Probably a PR and or test flight. PD is going through some huge rapid expansion as of late! I wonder if YVR will see more action from them

The only thing I saw about the flight is from the YVR twitter.

So it looks like PD will share with Y9 for check-in counter from international terminal, and will likely uses B-pier. With all these new domestic airlines, not sure if AC will eventually need to give up space in C...

Really? I didn’t know they suspended operations! Why is that?

They’ve essentially quietly dropped YVR and YYC and they’ve been doing charter work for WG as of late.

I hope they refunded all their passengers’ money for booked flights during the suspension!

Better would be to rebook everyone onto Air Canada or WestJet.

The old layout of the domestic terminal was far more efficient space wise than what Air Canada and WestJet have there now.

They use to have several rows of check in counters. They ripped most of that out to create those large spaces for Air Canada and WestJet where you go from kiosk to check in agent to luggage belt. The old layout was far come compact.

Looks like there are some AC update tonight, seems to be mainly about schedule coordination with UA

YVR-LAX reduce to 5x daily (Looks like UA will increase to 2x daily, taking over the morning departure)
YVR-SFO will now have 1x daily 7M8 and 4x CR9 (UA will be 6x daily with 2x express, did they run 6x, 5x, or 4x previously?)
YVR-IAH AC move back to morning departure, UA will increase to 2x daily for afternoon and evening
YVR-ORD 1x daily mainline 319 instead of 2x CR9
YVR-DEN reduce to 2x daily (UA increase to 3x daily)

I don't track UA schedule, but looks like they will have increase in all the destinations listed above? AC's flight will run through the entire season, while the newly added UA flight will only run June - early Sept.

As always good work. UA now at 16 daily. Pre 2020 they hovered around 17.
Pretty sure they never had two daily LAX (and both mainline to boot - previously one daily E75)
Star Alliance (UA/AC combined) will be ~ 55 daily

YVR-SFO 12-14 daily (AC UA WS F8)
YVR-LAX 11-12 daily (AC UA WS F8 AA)

Overall, without having calculated, I have to think AC’s transborder operations have shrunk. Of note, no more San Jose, Dallas. Reduced SFO, LAX, SEA, PDX, BOS. And slashed Austin from the launch last year.

Yes, it shrunk pretty much everywhere compared to pre-pandemic. What matter is, how much it shrunk.

Here is a comparison of all airports with transborder flight from AC for either S19 or S23.

Code:
Transborder flights per week

YYZ	YUL	YVR	YYC	YOW	YHZ	YEG
S19	999	370	300 70 45 13 14
S23	810	366	262 14 14 14 7

	81%	99%	87%	20%	31%	108%	50%

^ good graphic. The last AC schedule update coincided with the increases by United.
Looking at UA and AC schedules you can see how they have coordinated them together.
YVR faring very well especially compared to the rest of Western Canada.
Never thought I would see YYC drop to only 2 daily transborder flights.
The downward trend has certainly continued. YEG holding on with one daily CR9 to SFO.
If and when YVR gets a hold of some 220s no doubt YVR will see some transborder increases.

I’m sure there’ll be more recovery in S24 as well. I think IAD is next

Flair add 2x weekly YVR-YQG starting June 10

F8 876 YVR 1310 - 2030 YQG 36
F8 877 YQG 2115 - 2315 YVR 36

Looks like Flair will have schedule change on around Mar 27, May 7, and June 7. Here are the other Flair changes out of YVR for the June schedule (likely will be the schedule applied to June - August):

YYZ increase to 24x weekly (3-4x daily, new flight 608/609)
YEG increase to 22x weekly (2-4x daily, new flight 832/833)
YYC reduce to 17x weekly (1-3x daily)
YUL reduce to 5x weekly
YWG increase to 5x weekly
LAS suspended after June 7
SFO increase to 7x weekly
LAX increase to 7x weekly
SJD reduce to 1x weekly

It’s a good thing Flair is focussing on domestic again. These are the sort of routes the max 8 is much better suited for, compared to some questionable additions like YEG-YKA

YVR-ATL is scheduled as red-eye which is just like how DL use to run the route I think?

WS1598 YVR 22:25 - 06:05+1 ATL
WS1599 ATL 09:00 - 11:23 YVR

Windsor was an expected add given the teasers in the local news. I'm sure this route will do very well for them.

I was also maybe expecting YHM, since that will be the only southern ontario airport without YVR service on any airline.

There trans-border numbers must have really improved from last summer if they are increasing frequencies while also combating AC/WS.
