Actually, come to think of it, better to have what's there now than a skyline dominated by commie blocks and their derivatives.

I've already posted this on two other threads but I think it would be appropriate for here.
A drive into downtown T.O. along the Gardiner Expressway comparison between 2003 and 2022. Check out how many buildings have gone up in only the last 19 years! And 2002 used to have smog in the air from the coal plants that are no longer in operation.

And the second one looks so much better.

Montreal is finally losing the gaps that long defined its skyline. Heading towards Vancouver-style table-top density.

I’m not so sure a City Place type of development filled with the second image would be much better…basically Jamestown

The visual equivalent of the famous Montreal server greeting: "Bonjour/Hi"

Indeed. It is now illegal to say "Bonjour/Hi." I wonder how long it will be before LeGeault decrees that the "Five" on that signature sign gets replaced with a Cinq"..............

Where is your source for this? It is not illegal - it is discouraged (this is what the National Assembly voted on). While this nuance may seem comical, it's still important.

It's fun to take jabs at Quebec while also spreading misinformation! The Great Canadian Pastime!

So, what does this mean then? The National Assembly voted on this. Is the offender (when observed by the Surete de Langue) to be scolded, admonished, humiliated, fined, fired or expelled from the province???

I guess imprisonment is off the table.................

There is no enforcement as it's not law - it's a motion supporting the unilingual greeting of 'bonjour', I guess you might get a frown?

See actual information source below stating, "the motion passed Thursday is not a law."

That's not giving the architecture design of the parts a whole lot of credit for their use of the most popular facade material and colour of the era.

Toronto Future Model showing the progression of the classic waterfront skyline view, looking north. GREY buildings are built.

The largest skyline in the city actually runs south to north from the lake, much of it hidden behind these waterfront 'scrapers. Even the towering financial district is slowly being obscured from the waterfront POV. SCROLL a little bit >>>

steveve

NOTE: a number of towers over 200 metres (up to 299 metres) that are coded in pink as 'Proposed" are actually in progress (site demolition and/or site prep).
