Victoria Sur Le Parc (The tall glass tower in Montreal with the tilted roofline) is gorgeous, and definitely bringing a tall, modern edge to Montreal's skyline

You guys are being too hard on them. I mean, at least they showed the actual fake London instead of the real London. We could easily have gotten one with St. Paul's dome in the background.

Besides, I doubt anyone other than us will notice the Sudbury thing anyway. Who even knows what our version looks like?

The Core + Southcore.

Centre of the photo are the cranes of 160 Front West (TD) and just to the right, the cranes of CIBC Square Phase 2 can be glimpsed... eventually adding even more CIBC diamonds to the skyline.

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The whole is pretty cool looking, but to me the parts consist of a disheartening amount of seafoam green glass peppered by uninspired relics of the previous century.

I think the only individual standout from this angle is CIBC Square.

The downfalls of going through such a crazy building boom over a short amount of time. Lets hope we can continue this boom for at least another 10 years because we are finaling getting some colour in our proposals.

The area behind the CN Tower is especially bad. Just a massive green featureless wall of glass.

I wouldn’t disagree with that, but we could’ve probably said the same thing in the 70s boom of all the concrete boxes built. Just reflects the influences of the time. Appears like we’re creeping out of the sea foam green glass into something else now.

Glass is definitely at its best when it stands out in contrast to other dissimilar materials, but when everything is glass the effect is lost. Like how an oasis is an amazing sight when surrounded by desert but not when surrounded by marshes. But for me it's not just an issue with a lack of colour variation. It's also the specific colour/texture palate. Having a lot of earth tones from the use of masonry tends to work better with monotone cityscapes because tans, reddish browns, and greys look timeless as if the city is almost an extension of the earth whereas glass completely lacks that.

The right type of masonry looks great, but it really comes down to what the market wants. For a 1 and 1/2 bdrm condo, which most of these tend to be, glass walls give the biggest sense of space and light to otherwise claustrophobic units.

I'd venture those pics are a few days to a week old - snow is almost gone today.
