Progress Update!

Dawson Wallace have been selected as Construction Managers for the Valley Line West LRT Lewis Farms Storage Facility. Piling is complete and foundations are well underway in preparation for structural steel erection early February 2023. The Storage facility will be located adjacent to the existing Lewis Farms Transit Station. This will be purpose built 63,000 square feet containing LRV storage & support areas.

109/104 is going to be absolutely nuts! cut and cover and build a station like 69 avenue in Calgary or future 137 avenue in Edmonton.

Yeah, or elevated. Either way, grade separating that intersection should've been required.

Illegal right hand turn. There is no lack of signs for sure.

I still despise the design around Bonnie Doon, a train should not weave from the center, to the east and back to the center of a road.

I still dont know why we didn't elevate or go under whyte ave.

Too many champions "oh its low floor, its going to solve all the issues" without looking at much else.

I believe it was costed out and the increase to grade separate was a crazy high number so it was shot down. I don't know if it was ever considered to the same extent at 104ave/109st but that is the other spot it should have been a no brainer.

Crazy high.... sure. The line is already a big expense, having chosen the most expensive corridor possible... and then they half-🞵🞵🞵 it.

The City doesn't take on the delay costs tho, right? The politics at the time if I remember we were lucky to get any LRT at all in any shape or form.

I don't mind as a driver or train rider if it's at grade. Just don't run a red light. Plan your route. Slow down. Used to live by the crossing at Southgate and after a few tweaks it was fine. It's just a big dumb intersection to begin with.

Are there any piers that didn't have problems? Sounds like the more they look, the more problems are uncovered. It's really quite shocking. Shame the repairs alter the rather clean look of the piers.

Not surprising at all really.

The fix isn't terrible, but certainly disappointing and not particularly good looking.

Is there anything they can do to cover the fix ... or will the graffiti artists take care of it - maybe a contest with remuneration. Maybe TransEd should think about that and covering the costs.
