Currently -25 in Halifax.

This will be a true stress test for their few boxed palms.

That's pretty darn cold, but it will also be brief, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

-26C with a wind chill of -41 and mainly. Not a single soul was outside today. I am sorry, but if you anyone is enjoy the weather today, they are mentally unwell.

Was actually -15C (wind chill of -27) last night.

The warmspot was Abbotsford, BC at 11.1C.

Warmest low were Bonilla Island and Estevan Point, BC at 6.4C

EDIT: Could the unthinkable happen and YUL hits -30C? Hasn't happened since 1994. Currently -27.9C at 1AM... coldest temperature recorded since Jan 24th, 2011.

It hasn’t bottomed out here yet but it’s getting close to -10 as a base temp.

Blustery and changeable. Wet or dry depending on where you were and when.
Late afternoon and early evening had some rain downtown. Very mild.

Friday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 10 C, the low was 5 C.

You got so fucking lucky Montreal.

Your coldest temperature in decades won’t register because you got an N/A at 4am.

Good job Environment Canada!

-29.3 there now.

The squalls have started here.

And my backyard has dropped below 10C (red). Green is dew point.

Lots of conversation on the local social groups today about how treacherous it is out walking or driving, no salt down yet, etc. Everything is ice, as expected.

The arctic wind be damned.
It’s actually so nice out but I need to find my earmuffs if I wanna head out.

Ran to the store for salt for the front step. It’s a skating rink.

YHZ hit -26°C early this morning with a wind chill of -43°C.

https://weather.gc.ca/past_conditions/index_e.html?station=yhz

When I was outside late last night, the cold winds felt like they would freeze you on the spot. I was surrounded by cracking noises coming from all over as things were freezing quickly. Most of the sounds seemed like they were coming from the trees, but I could hear some from the houses as well (including when I was inside), I'm guessing as materials contracted and joints slipped, and ice expanded. This isn't the first time I've experienced this, but definitely the first time this winter.

Temperatures will now climb steadily until they hit -14°C by late afternoon and hold through the night, and by morning the winds will have diminished.

By tomorrow afternoon, the temperature will have climbed to +3°C with a few flurries or rain showers in the afternoon...

The rest of the week will be back to above seasonal, with a couple of sunny days and a couple of rainy days in the mix. All highs above freezing.

We bottomed out at -16.6 around midnight. Wasn't too bad, it wasn't windy or anything. It's now -8 and heading back above freezing by this evening and could be double digits by Tuesday.

I haven't noticed that myself here, though I imagine it must happen. But I do understand the appreciation for the noises associated with changes in temperature. Whenever old St. John's comes out of a freeze, all these wooden rowhouses... the creaks and thuds are a symphony, and my favourite is the soft THWOOSHUMP of snow sliding off a roof.

*****

The squalls seem to be especially localized. Exactly at the time I was taking those sunny pics on my fight against the wind to the store, police were advising motorists to avoid some suburban arterials due to whiteout conditions and multiple accidents. For example:

Been to the top of Mount Washington twice myself, but I drove.

You're right about the spectacular views.

The max windchill on Mount Washington last night was -108F (-78C). This is a new all time American record.

Currently in Moncton it is -26C at 10 AM with a windchill of -41. The overnight low was -28C with a windchill of -45.

My heat pumps are struggling with this and the air temperature in my house is currently 65F (18C), still not that bad.

Haha... I love it when the house comes alive with noises like that.
