Bad news SHH.....today wasn't the snow squalls. This was an expected little storm that actually was worse than expected. Ended up getting 10cm (5 more than expected) and the airport reported blizzard conditions at one point this afternoon.

The squalls come tomorrow with the bitter cold and wind. Depending on if we're lucky or unlucky we can come away with no snow, or up to a foot of snow.

Well to be fair this is no normal cold when the high won’t even go above -20C. Sorry but not going today, like most people (unless they have to). At some point it just becomes unreasonable.

It's crazy how close the cold is. And just look at those snow squalls blowing off the mainland!

SHH, how well does your neighbour's Micra handle the snow?

It's very cold here, snowing earlier but I stayed indoors all day. It should be raining and milder by Monday.

I saw an American talking about the cold in a youtube post and parts of the NE could be -75F with the wind chill overnight. that's crazy.

Stay warm out there easterners.

We are having a big wind storm with rain going on. They canceled Ferries today due to the wind.

At 10 PM, it is currently -27C with a windchill of -44 in Moncton. It will be interesting to see how low it can go overnight!

The temperature at the observatory on the top of Mount Washington NH is currently -43F (-42C), expected peak wind gusts are in the range of of 130 MPH (208 km/hr) and the current windchill is -107F (-77C).

The limits of the troposphere may be so depressed by the extreme weather tonight, that the top of Mount Washington might actually reside in the stratosphere.

Mount Washington is known for extreme weather conditions. The highest non cyclonic wind gust in history was recorded at Mount Washington in 1934 - 231 MPH (370 km/hr).

Tancredi, if you want a taste of winter get a job in a frozen food distribution centre. I briefly worked in this gigantic walk-in freezer-like distribution centre in the middle of winter; perhaps in the summer it would've been a nice change . As a fork lift operator, it quickly taught me the importance of slowing down on slippery icy roads.

It's currently -3F outside in Uptown Waterloo tonight, about the same temperature as the frozen meat section of that distribution centre.

Climbed it 6 or 7 times. Great hike and on a sunny day an incredible view. The air temp alone is very cold today there.

From +2°C at 11am to -23°C (with wind chill of -37°C) at 1am... quite a ride!
