Ah, It makes sense then.

Look at that little guy booking it! Gritty Vancouver shots are some of my favorite.

A rare angle of Downtown Edmonton from 102ave/109st looking towards the CBD.

There actually is a small dock between the two buildings furthest to the right, mostly used as a pick-up/drop-off point for water taxis and the like. It's quite a tight area and they tried to focus most of the boat-related stuff near the breakwater on the other side of the development (including a larger short-use dock and a marina). The canal-side dock is mostly for the convenience of the residents and businesses in those two buildings. Definitely the cooler one to use though.

This could be a really cool area someday. I think the right inspiration is for it to look a bit like a North American equivalent of what you see in, say, Rotterdam.

Unfortunately it had some uninspired urban planning for a long time. Not sure exactly what to call it but instead of embracing the urban industrial area it sought to make it bland and suburban with a lot of vague greenspace. Curvy roads, setbacks, etc. That townhouse development is really bad with driveways, a cul-de-sac, and no sidewalk or interaction whatsoever with the Alderney side. The green strip is labeled as a park but it has no clear pedestrian access.

A friend of mine from that part of the world actually pointed out that the current row of 4 buildings looks "straight out of Rotterdam".

One of the most unique angles I've seen that captures how long the skyline is to the west.
