Some of us dreamers still have a spark of hope that funding will come before the Broadway Extension is completed and construction simply continues on to UBC which might allow for a 2030 opening.

Wouldn't bet money on it though.

Worth a shot as the TBMs approach Arbutus?

They've done zero of the design/geotechnical work on the extension so it seems like wishful thinking. Not to mention that it will most likely be mostly above ground guideway.

Based on the Broadway Extension project timeline we still have a year. Get to work planners!

-Line though CoV is as expected, tunneled with stations at Jericho, Alma, and Macdonald

Only the section running along University Blvd would be above ground, and Translink is still debating between that and a tunneled option.

Would a tunnel through the UEL be cheaper? Looking at that path, it would appear to go through the golf course, which might lend itself to cut-and-cover without the need to accommodate traffic and businesses.

No-go on digging a trench across the golf course - University Boulevard, maybe.

Might increase the hole-in-one rate?

It's going to need to be a bored tunnel from the Jericho Lands to Blanca at least.

The cost of building two tunnel to elevated transitions likely makes the short elevated section less of a cost saver.

I would bet on the UEL portion being cut and cover to drive down costs regardless of which option they choose (elevated or fully tunneled), with that wide median running the length of University Blvd it would make sense to excavate along that and then build traffic decks similar to what we're seeing around the stations on Broadway right now.

Another factor is that the Musqueam own the golf course and they have previously stated they want to build housing on it when the lease expires. Building the tunnel option across the golf course would allow them to build the potential infill station shown right in the middle of the development, should they eventually want to go ahead with it.

If the Musqueam develop both sides of the golf course, a station under the roadway may better serve the overall development.

The deal with the province was no development until 2083, that's uh quite a ways out to plan around.

Also the perfect opportunity to modify that agreement. Imagine having an un-used Skytrain stop in the middle of a golf course, which is indigenous owned, during the middle of an extended housing crisis. Pretty easy to see how a political argument could be made to say how circumstances have changed.

It won't be an unused stop, just a section of straight, level track. There are about 7 "potential future station" locations on the existing network, if not more I don't know of.

They'll ban golf courses in 20 years and they'll be able to redevelop it

Just curious, where are they? I'm aware of stations proposed or under construction on the Canada Line (Capstan, 33rd, 57th, and YVR Terminal 3) but I can't find mentions for the other lines.

IIRC the Evergreen Extension has 2, Falcon Dr and Queens St.

The remaining three are probably Woodlands, Queens Street, and Falcon Drive. The only mention of them I've come across was from this map: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SkyTrain_(...:Vancouver_SkyTrain_track_diagram_v3.svg
