I'm driving to Kelowna on Wednesday, and good god is it going to be cold in the Okanagan Valley. Kelowna is projected to see a high of -19c on Wednesday. I've got to imagine it'll be in the -30s on the Coquihalla Highway summit.

Look at the bright side. This should kill all those invasive beetles.

Hope we get some record smashed, because at this point, why not? Extreme weather seems to be the name of the game in BC now.

If its not 49.6 degrees, 300 mm of rain or more in two days, 3 months of less than 2mm of rain, its yet another cold snap that is going to flirt with all time cold records.

That's a common misconception, pine beetles are native to the area. Over crowded forests and the lingering of sick and dying trees that normally would have been cleared off by forest fires that had been suppressed for a century was a larger culprit to the population explosion than warming winters.

Also I think the problem has subsided a lot from the peak about a decade ago.

It's snowing here in Victoria tonight. Looks like I'll be doing snow removal tomorrow. Always very tough but fun work.

1C and mainly sunny! It is that time of the year where I find the snow pretty. Would be like that since about until the end of the year then will become sick of it.

Low of -5C (wind chill of -10) this morning.

The warmspot was Sable Island, NS at 7.4C.

The warmest low was Sable Island, NS at 4.0C.

Midnight in Vancouver now and it has been snowing since about 4pm. Commute is going to be a mess tomorrow.

Thought this was interesting. Sometimes we complain about the Great Lakes blocking spring warmth. Here you can see them doing the opposite, stopping Arctic air.

Tomorrow is only expected to be mostly cloudy. That implies some sun. Some hope. It’ll drop below freezing but at this point I’ll take it. 20 days without sun.

Rain day 100. Rain, 3 degrees at 10:30am.

Looks like it'll be sunny Thursday and Friday though which is nice.

+1C and light snow in Moncton at 10 AM. This is the same weather we've had for the last five friggin' days.

Despite the continual light snowfall, the temperature has hovered just above zero, and there has been precious little accumulation (no more than 2-4 cm total). The roads are slushy, but that's about it.

The pesky low pressure system will finally move off tomorrow morning and we will have a couple of decent days before the Colorado low moves in on Friday. While this apparently will be a major snow event for parts of Ontario, we will get rain here.

Just a bit of snow in Vancouver…..this is right on Burrard Inlet, I’d imagine higher elevations have a LOT more….

Ridiculous statement! The coldest I’ve ever been was when I lived in Banff, and it was -30C. I have never felt that cold in Windsor, especially at -4C, when it feels rather balmy when there is no wind, regardless of how “dry” a cold it is. The things some people say to make themselves feel better about where they live.

A buddy in Victoria (originally from here; I’ve no idea how long he’s been out there) said it’s the most snow he’s ever seen there.

BC Ferries has also cancelled all morning sailings. Nobody’s going anywhere soon. Looks to be almost a foot of snow.

I live on Broadway, and as of 8:20am, you can hear a pin drop. It should be rush hour right now. Vancouver is essentially shut down.
