I was referring to this:

Last year, Pacific Coastal applied to fly YYC/YVR-GEG for WS Link.

---

Also UA updated its S23 plans, and once again shows an all mainline operation.

SFO - 1x daily mainline (currently a 738) replaces 2x daily E75.
IAH / ORD / DEN - All 2x daily mainline on mixed equipment

Edit: This schedule only applies to May 5th, but I assume it will end up getting extended beyond that.
I completely forgot about the Pacific Coastal application last year, my apologies. I would assume that means they have something planned for transborder operations? otherwise it seems pointless to apply. It’s nice to see ORD/IAH/SFO pretty much go back to pre pandemic seat capacity on UA metal.

By the way like others said here it seems like most of the AC cuts resume next Winter besides YCG/PDX. Way too early I know but it's not a bad sign that they didn't completely cut it just yet.

United is another carrier that makes heaps of changes. What you see now is most likely not their final schedule yet for S23. For example, DEN is usually three daily and probably will be.
Plus, these are only partially covering AC’s capacity cuts (down to only 2 daily next summer). Star Alliance transborder a shadow of its former self.

Yes you’re right. These changes start end of March, so at least for end of March/April the current schedule will most probably stick.

The question for UA is if all summer we can hold onto 2x daily for both ORD and IAH. Not having the morning southbound IAH is horrific for connectivity over the hub.

1 additional IAH mainline effectively covers the now scrubbed 2x Jazz RJ, relative to S22 anyway.

Does anyone have a recent comparison of passenger traffic at the major airports in Canada? I'm curious to how all the airports look now that covid travel restrictions are all but gone. How covid affected today's passenger traffic for different airports?

Edit: I did a quick Google run, and can see some of the numbers for 2022 YTD (up to October) for some airports

YYZ -
YVR - 13.77M (up to September)
YUL - 13.17M
YYC - 11.99M
YEG - 4.75M
YOW -

AC's EWR flight timings are weird next summer. Leave EWR at 9:55AM and arrive in YYC at 1PM. And then leave YYC at 2:55PM and arrive in EWR at 9:55PM.
Is the plane going to overnight in EWR then?

Yes & Air Canada had the similar times for Calgary YYC - Newark EWR flights during Summer 2022 (if) I’m not mistaken.

This is how EWR has been scheduled the last few years in the summer. Even last summer I believe this how it operated, and yeah the plane RON.

Porter announced their E2 service from Person to YYC on their Instagram this morning.

Beginning February 22 2023.

Likely next would be Ottawa.

That’s a saturated market. I’m surprised they are jumping into the fray. Somebody is gonna get knocked out for sure!

I think they’ll do ok, they offer a more premium standard product than other airlines, and there’s a unholy amount of business travellers that fly YYC-YYZ, the shouldn’t have issues filling an E2

I have no idea how they're gonna do on this route. But I think YUL/YOW at one daily each would be more viable. But they'll probably launch those routes eventually too.

Good points.

There’s already 1 out of the “fray” as Air Transat Calgary YYC - Toronto YYZ is (suspended/cancelled) this Spring/Summer 2023. Only its YYC to Montreal YUL route will be operating S23

But hey Porter Airlines on YYC - YYZ route can fill the Air Transat spot.

I would agree. Corporate travelers usually need to book using these tools that implement all their company travel polices. Those systems normally block and hide all the ULCC airlines. That just leaves Air Canada, WestJet and now Porter.

Porter is an established player in Toronto and Ottawa with a solid reputation. They will do fine.
