Tentative Phase 1 of the Mumford redevelopment (West End Mall lands + Mumford Terminal), across the street from Halifax Shopping Centre. This moves the existing terminal underground, and replaces about 5 big box/strip mall retail units and their surface parking. The surrounding area already has a lot of mid-to-highrise apartments. This is part of the vague borderlands between the Peninsula's West End and the Mainland neighbourhoods to the west of that. Halifax Shopping Centre and Mic Mac Mall (previous page) are the two main "large-scale" malls in HRM and are both major transit hubs. HSC also anchors a secondary office district with several financial companies having large offices in that area, along with CGI, CBC, and the Chronicle Herald. Many of the units (above the ~5th floor) would have excellent views of the Northwest Arm and surrounding hills; some of the uppermost units facing the other direction might have distant views of the Harbour.
The site abuts an existing CN corridor and is a logical place for a commuter rail station, if such a service were ever to be (re)-introduced. (There have been tentative plans for this, possibly in partnership with VIA, but CN and HRM hate each other, and talks stalled)
This makes up about 2/5 of the redevelopment plans for that whole site, which doesn't include HSC itself. 5560 residential units are projected for the entire site, plus commercial space.
