Yeah that's a recipe for success. A small jet on a transcon route with "better service". Because its not like Canadians have shown themselves willing to sell their mother to save $1 on a flight.

With Porter enter the market, I wonder if YVR have enough space for domestic check-in counter. Current assignment:

Left side:
001-008 F8 (average 14x daily domestic flights next summer)
009-012 4N (5x daily)

Center:
015-034 WS (??)
041-058 AC (103x daily)

And these overflow into international terminal (106-110, 112-116) in this summer and winter:
Y9 (5x daily)
TS (1x daily)
WG (1x daily)

And new entrant for this winter/next summer:
PD (3x daily)
AU (1x daily)

Not sure what will YVR do...? Take some counters away from AC/WS/F8/4N? Or find new space to add new check in counters? International flights are quite empty last summer so they could take some counters away, but probably no longer the case for next summer...

Looks like UA move both of their IAH and EWR flight to late night departure for S23. I guess to coordinate with AC's schedule so the departures will be throughout the day?

The 3 red-eye transborder flights for summer:
UA YVR-EWR dep 11:00pm
UA YVR-IAH dep 11:45pm
B6 YVR-JFK dep 11:55pm

All these will be international departures as pre-clearance should be closed for the day? Will AC keep the international lounge open till 11:30pm everyday to accommodate the UA flights?

Since Canada dropped the last of its Covid-related travel restrictions on October 1, US searches have spiked.

No 3rd daily flight for SAN from tonight's update (the third schedule update this week!).

YVR-MIA is confirmed 2x weekly except for the first 2 weeks of May.

So what's missing from the press release
YVR-YLW (7x daily scheduled, PR says 8x daily)
YVR-SAN (2x daily scheduled, PR says 3x daily)

I guess YVR's express schedule isn't finished.

Also, for W23 looks like the season resumption for YVR-AKL moved up to Oct 30 instead of December.

Air Canada’s pattern of press release to complete schedule update has changed over the last few years.
When they first announced IAH year-round it actually took over a month before schedules were extended past the original end date.
Who knows.
I think you’re right that AC is not finished with YVR yet.

It was announced alongside JFK, but cancelled last year.

Great to have another stateside carrier at YVR, to Boston and New York, already.. This is probably unrealistic and won't happen anytime soon, but I'd like to see Southwest Airlines. In pax and $revenue, they follow the Big Three: AA, DL, and UA. They have no Canadian destinations at all but have a respectable number in the Caribbean, and a point-to-point saturation of the US domestic market.*1 fn
I'd love to see them try, say, YVR > San Antonio, Tucson, Albuquerque, Kansas City, and others ... though I'm sure that in fact, the numbers aren't there to warrant it, and Southwest isn't interested, anyway.

I think market conditions were also a bit soft. Still were in early recovery mode.
But it does show their confidence. Having two carriers on BOS and both daily is a good sign.
Now that MIA is announced as year-round just need to work on getting Washington DC on the East Coast
I’m sure we will see DL return to ATL and JFK as well.

And who knows what Westjet will do with transborder from YVR as they continue to focus on YYC. But as of now next summer Westjet still showing a very significant YVR transborder schedule with 53 weekly flights to 7 destinations - so about 8 daily

So LH's daily 744 to FRA is the last and only 744 to YVR and one of the very last 744 passenger routes worldwide. Only a handful in service globally.

I hope they keep the 747 going on this route, maybe even use the 747-800 once-400 retire. Probably wishful thinking, but I'll take the 747 as long as we can get it!

Good to see JetBlue on Boston, just hope it doesn't compromise AC, I'd rather see them strong on the route. The JetBlue JFK service must be performing to or past expectations, it's kept a solid schedule. I didn't realize they had an alliance with AA. I think AA used to codeshare on the Cathay service to JFK, so this JetBlue service is really providing the same function. And in this day and age, those 5th freedom routes are dying out, so the JetBlue service is way more stable. CX was already providing non stops from JFK and EWR I believe, so the YVR tack on was very expendable, this isn't 2002
