Great comparison. Then you have Vancouver that sort of mixes both. That's the direction I'm hoping Kelowna goes.

It gives me hope that the new city council is taking a "we're for development but it needs to benefit Kelownians too" approach.

It would be great if this project got scrapped due to its shady approval process and something greater gets put in its place instead.

Bertram and the Block

Looks like the Bertram and Block towers are now beyond the podium. Both towers now on the rise.

Nice project, I would've rather it be on Sutherland instead of a small street with no sidewalks. But I guess they have to start somewhere.

The image below is the height map for Capri/Landmark. The square block from Gordon, Sutherland, Pacific Ave and Court supports 12 storeys, 15 with bonus. Sutherland could see similar development in the future.

and yes, that was the third revision of the FSH tower.

Call me crazy but I like 1200 Pacific Ave. The floor plans are really livable and the crown at least tries to do something different. The base isn't my favorite but the use of faux wood saves it.

I really like it! The design and color palette matches the “dry interior” look of the Okanagan.

Interesting note on the plans, Eagle Builders is listed as the "Contractor", they look to be a precast concrete company. Plan page DP301 lists exterior walls as 2A - Precast concrete. Not much other details or information.

I am in no way an Architect or Structural Engineer, but it makes me wonder if there are plans to prefab the concrete of this building off site using prefabbed hollow core floor panels, precast columns, beams and walls....Could make for an expedited structure erecting timeline.

Anyways, just something that made the construction nerd in me go huh.

That whole area is densifying nicely. Looks better than some of the downtown towers if I'm being honest.

Really nice stuff for suburban rental buildings in a mid sized city. Great to see!

All you have to do is look at what mid sized cities in Ontario get for proposals on average to realize how nice most of Kelowna's tower developments are.
