What will they have to do to fit all 5.5 blocks of buildings on 9/10 of a block (with perhaps 10-15% more for growth since all of those were built.)

With more news coming out regarding what is planned (high level right now), it sounds likely IHC is looking at mostly replicating IMC but on a much smaller footprint.
It is also good to use a flagship as a model as later built hospitals will incorporate the efficiencies that were instituted as the flagship.
Of course, it is just what I used as my source for my guesstimate. The overall project could be bigger or smaller than my guesstimate. It will mostly come down to IHC's overall plans.
My thoughts for IHC's plans are that they want IMC to continue to be their flagship. They have space available there to expand for decades. IMC has, however, already run into capacity issues and it is projected to get worse over the next decade.
Because of this, I look at the planned SLC hospital as more than just a replacement of LDS, but also as a northern anchor for IHC. With the population growth in SLC, I can see the need for a more central hospital for northern SL County. The Sears block is more central to the current and planned population growth for SLC and SSL than an expanded SL Regional or U hospital would be.
I also see, at least to me, positive confirmation of this with seeing the recovery room/bed count already increasing from around 250 (originally stated) to around 300 now. I could see this count increase closer to 400 when the plans are finalized.
This would provide positive relief for IMC to then work on their next planned expansion. I could see a southern relief hospital campus being needed in the next 25 to 30 years and I would expect it to happen around the current Riverton hospital.
Of course, there are just my thoughts and guesstimates. Until something is officially announced, nothing should be taken seriously as they are all just fanciful dreams.
