Also of note on this image, Dieppe Blvd. is 4 lanes when approaching the roundabout.

I noticed those trees were cut down last week, its a huge area!

I sense a little confusion as to where on Dieppe Blvd this new development by Quest Realty is located, so I made up this little locator map:

It is on the west side of Dieppe Blvd, between the IGA/Co-op and the Fox Creek Golf Club.

Of note, there will be the construction of an entirely new roundabout on Dieppe Blvd at Yvonne to allow for access to this development (and for traffic control).

Also of note, the land on the NE corner of Dieppe Blvd/Yvonne is owned by Sobeys. This is directly across the street from this new Quest development. Given the size of the Quest project, I wonder if this will give new impetus to Sobeys to do something with this land.

Finally, in addition to tree clearing, Quest Properties just posted this photo on their Facebook page:

The photo is labelled "site preparation", showing the removal of a house on Keith Road. It would appear that things are full steam ahead.

Is the roundabout built already? I don’t remember roundabout being at this location. This is a rather large development though, especially if these buildings have any amount of height to them.

The roundabout will be new.

It's frustrating not knowing the height of these buildings, but, if I was to guess, I could easily see them being six storeys or so (at least along Dieppe Blvd)..

I wish Dieppe wasn't such a black pit as far as information is concerned.

I was in moneys worth today and they informed me that the store will be closing effective this Friday and that all product will be moved to Amherst or Summerside. This is a loss for the market as far as I’m concerned, but I’m honestly not surprised. Their hours are only 8:30-5 Monday to Friday. Being closed on the weekends is a killer in the retail industry.

Also the Salvation Army store in Dieppe has also closed permanently and the building is now entirely a distribution centre for Salvation Army.

Apparently the reason why this project has been inactive may be because of a "stop work order."

I'm not sure what the legal issues are, but this is what the rumour is (comment on Retail Talk & Share).

From Huddle:

Quote:
Quest Properties has sights set on a larger, 20-phase, decade-long development in Dieppe, on Keith Road, near the Fox Creek Golf Club.

The development, which has yet to receive approval from Dieppe’s city council, will require Quest to consolidate several adjacent lots, to make one larger lot for the planning going forward.

“We don’t have any confirmation and approval from the city, but we’re working on plans and designs for the site there,” said Comtois.

It’s a large development of an integrated community, including smaller and higher-density apartments.”
So, as speculated by a member previously, this project will take some time to develop - about 10 years for build out.

There was a post on Facebook (retail talk and share) and it showed a tower crane getting erected on highlandview road. The post also said it was a apartment. Would anyone know anything about this? That also makes it around 8 tower cranes around greater Moncton and probably another one coming for the science center

That’s actually Moncton East (not Dieppe).

The crane is for phase two of Lafford’s Birch Meadows project.

Couple of things I noticed this past weekend:

1. The former Starbucks on Amirault that was sold this past summer and was briefly speculated as a potential St Hubert Express location now has the sold sign taken down and For Lease up in the windows.

2. I noticed the remaining properties (3 I think) in the Horizon Place block on Acadie have a for sale sign. I'm not sure how long these have been there but it seems a little odd that these wouldn't have been gobbled up by the owners of the rest of the block at first chance.

There is now a second (mini this time) crane on site. I had a closer look, and they have started foundation work on the second building (phase two), so they will be building both structures concurrently.

Still no renders from (secretive) Dieppe.

Dieppe should also wrap all buildings in gift wrap and then reveal it once it’s finally finished

Excavation at Acadie and Champlain

I noticed there is excavation at the corner across from city hall. That property has been vacant for years. Any idea what is coming?

Haha, I mean, I don’t think it’s the Illuminati, but more a secret cabal of developers sworn to secrecy on any new construction.

Apparently this is just soil remediation.

FWIW, the city of Dieppe is musing over the possibility of creating a multilane roundabout at this intersection at some point in the future. This cold affect the future of any potential development of this particular lot.

The anglophone east school board is going to urgently petition the provincial government for a new anglophone Grade 6-12 combined middle and high school to be built in Dieppe.

https://tj.news/times-and-transcript/102010781 (paywall)

This request is based on dramatically increased school enrolment throughout the region. Another anglophone high school for Moncton North is still necessary, and the request for a Dieppe school will not impact on this.

The existing anglophone school in Dieppe (Lou MacNarin) would revert to a K-5 elementary school should the new anglophone middle/high school get built.
