Didn't the mall re-design already have a public hearing a couple of months ago?

If it's already that far in the process, then it really shouldn't be too long after these next two towers for when that gets its start.

There might even be some overlap in their schedules between when the towers are getting constructed and when the mall redevelopment starts construction - if not a concurrent schedule.

And unlike the towers, the mall doesn't have to wait for, nor hit a presales benchmark to actually start construction, assuming they already have the financing sorted out.

Presale targets area guide. If they choose they can self finance and not have any presale. Which is not that un common for some developers. I know Aragon has sold a few buildings after OP as move in ready. The presale program was the throw back of the 80s where it was a 5050 chance a project might go or not

Once upon a time, malls were filled with clothing and shoe stores. Now they are full of restaurants and fast food.

malls are adapting to how shopping has changed, looking at many new malls across the planet many are becoming lifestyle centres with more food and entertainment options than actual shopping. So much is bought online now.

I'm all for more food, drink, and entertainment. We need more of that in Burnaby.

Will be interesting to see what happens to the old mall. I worked on towers 5 and 6 a few years ago and there was a lot of question marks regarding what could happen with the mall and community center spaces.

Community centre got integrated into Grosvenor Brentwood's project.

It's been like this for years in Asia, and guess what? I started going to malls again. Some of Shanghai and Seoul's best restaurants can be found in malls now.

Tokyo and the cities I visited in Australia were heavy on the restaurants.

Speaking of restaurants, Jinya looks completed and could open this week, appeared to be a few staff members doing various things inside tonight.

They announced sold out status July 1st. They are starting their first round of sales I believe now for TAB6 and my guess are they are even more expensive than TAB5.

I was walking through Mistukoshi (Japanese department store) in Kaohsiung today, and noticed their poster for restaurants inside the mall. Asia doesn't mess around.
