The Park Board approved construction for two new parks yesterday. South Kinross Park at Kinross St. to the Fraser and Promontory Park at the NE corner of Marine Way and E Sawmill Crescent.

River District is truly becoming one of the most beautiful and best-planned new neighbourhoods in the city.

The one thing it is direly lacking is a good transit infrastructure. That really needs to improve for that neighbourhood to feel connected to the rest of the city. I think it should be a higher priority, considering the city and Translink's talk about reducing carbon footprints. Not a good look if you're encouraging tens of thousands of people to a neiighbourhood that requires private vehicles because there's next to no mass transit options.

Yeah, currently the biggest problem is the 100 going along Marine Drive.
BRT along Marine (Way?) should be happening within the next 5 years, that should get to either Skytrain station within 15min.

It's one of the proposed new BRT lines, from New Westminster to Marine Gateway, but not until 2024/25 (at least). It was included as a pledge in the ABC Vancouver election platform, but presumably not to help fund it, just to support Translink providing it. (ABCs election platform is, however, no longer available on their website).

It's still very dirty and secretive to remove your platform from the internet the way Ken Sim's ABC just did. Makes me think this government is going to be extremely corrupt.

I didn't know that the parking lot beside Save-On would become a park.

Situating it right beside Marine, which handles such high volumes of traffic through the city, isn't the greatest idea.

As for the park at South Kinross, it looks good but I will miss the rawness of the undeveloped shoreline as that disappears over time.

R-e-l-a-x. Relax.

It's not like ABC can scrub Dailyhive, CTV, CBC, any every other news site that wrote about their election platform. Also, as Feathered Friend just showed, it's fairly easy to recover old websites.

And even if ABC reneges on every campaign promise, that would not reach the level of corruption IMO.

Based on the concept photos, the shoreline is supposed to remain natural and the park will include a wetland. This won't be another baseball diamond with a quay along the riverbank.

Translink was supposed to introduce the limited-stop, peak-hour only #80 between River District and Marine Dr in "2020 or 2021" (after doing consultation in 2019). I guess Covid derailed the implementation of that and I haven't heard anything about it since. Who knows if that's still in the cards or if that will be forgotten with priority moved to the implementation of a Marine Dr – 22nd St RapidBus / BRT sometime between 2024 and 2032.

this who development is terrible. i heard from a friend that a section of a road shifted/sank by a foot or more and now they have to rebuild the road & utilities. apparently it was because of the bad ground conditions.

I think I know that section of the road your friend is talks about. It looked very suspiciously every time I walk by.
