Yeah, but who really uses the airport anyway? Why expand? Didn't we just expand it? Do we really want to spend money on that?
I say we need another environmental study before we *really* decide whether or not to expand

Me along with everyone else. People don't take public transportation. Do you? If not, is it because you don't need to? Neither do 95% of the rest of us.

If you do, I suppose you support it because you'll be taking it? What is the difference in our conclusions based on the premise? There isn't. Your question infers that I am wrong because of my assumed motive, yet our assumed motives are the same.

And what's the price again? How are we going to pay for it? Are we still hoping the government will pick up the majority of the tag? Where does that money come from? How accurate is the quote? How feasible is the timeline? And how does cutting lanes for drivers help with congestion?

How logical is it to support a plan that doesn't have a plan?

Take note of 10 metro buses next time you're out and about and let me know how many you see, polluting and congesting traffic, with more than 5 riders.

Also a major overhaul of TSA in a new structure is part of the expansion - I expect they are planning for the increased volume in their design. Plus the few times I've traveled this year out of ABIA, TSA staffing/closed checkpoints seemed to be a bigger issue than anything regarding throughput (but I'll admit I only fly a handful times a year and more so out of DFW recently, so my sample of ABIA in the last year isn't necessarily representative - lines inside and out were horrendous though).
TSA overhaul sounds promising. Thank you.

10/25/21 was the Monday after F1. The Sunday after Thanksgiving in 2021 is the next day outside of 2022 in the Top 100 - #38 overall.

I think people are reacting negatively to you and/or your personality. I’ve traveled and lived throughout the globe, and people, at minimum, are curious and conscious of Texas. On average they’re very intrigued and have a positive view of Texans. All negative perception pertains mostly to our country as a whole.

I travel globally a lot... agree. Most negative sentiment is directed toward our country, not texas. Now it's a bit different if you travel the states... there are certainly states where people roll their eyes when they find out your from Texas.

Has this happened to you, or are you just projecting? Most people aren't that infantile or petty, regardless of their opinion, to behave in that manner.

This is a touch rude, no?

I actually disagree with you. Texans are widely looked down upon elsewhere, and the points I usually hear have to do with:

• Bush
• Nucular (sic) Weapons
• Selfishness
• Hypocritical
• Racist
• Rude
• Overcompetitive

Actually, no, I have experienced this plenty. Maybe most people aren’t that infantile and petty, but many are. Go read the last few pages of the Denver Update Thread and how they hate Texans.

Same. On all my travels people are curious about Texas (and they actually have heard of Texas lol) and especially Austin.

Adding to the list... Whataburger is NOT better than In N Out at ALL. The Patty Melt is fire as hell but that's a total different bun than a regular burger. I personally like P Terry's more as a chain. Jewboy and Sandy's are other burger spots that I prefer over Whataburger

This is true for people from the Bay before pandemic. I've been telling my family and friends for years that I wanted to move to Austin, even before visiting because I did a lot of research (thanks to this forum) of the city and what was happening in the future. Most of my peers didn't know a thing about Austin or have visited Texas. But since moving here, all of them are more aware of what's going on and have mostly visited me

This is also true. Some of my friends laugh at Texas overall too.

Hell, even SpongeBob makes fun of Sandy the squirrel being from Texas

The reality is all places deserve both crap and respect in various areas. I grew up in Texas - and in the Hill Country and Austin, no less. Went to college in the Dallas area, which is not as good, obviously. (jk, Dallas friends...kinda)

Then I lived on the other side of the world for many, many years. I traveled to a lot of different places, worked with folks who are just close enough culturally to me (i.e., Americans but not Texans and/or Westerners but not from the U.S.) as well as folks with whom I had to work in Chinese or Thai - or who spoke a completely different language. Daily interactions, observations, and everything else can teach you a thing or two - both about yourself, your culture, and the rest of the world. This is what many Americans - and Texans - are lacking. And I still have a lot to learn, I'm sure.

That said, we can probably chill on this topic before it gets too heated. I'm just here for the Whataburger comment now.

My experience with foreigners is that they love the idea of Texas and are curious about it and us.

I haven't traveled, but I have cast a wide net online around the globe. I had a YT channel last year that had a worldwide audience. 19,000 subs in 3.5 months from Netherlands and Europe, Japan, Indonesia, South America, etc. Texan was in my name. I played it up, too...saying "howdy" and "y'all" and all that. Nothing but positive feedback.

When I join a discord or twitch community, everyone calls me Tex. These are communities from Australia, Europe, etc. Only a small few have talked shit about Texas. The vast majority are positive.

The Longhorns I know (Surly Horns bbs now) have said for years that when they go to Europe and Asia, they tell everyone they're from Texas rather than just saying U.S. and they get a better reaction.

Reactions from other states is different. They can be more harsh, but I don't really give a shit.
