The Yonge-Eg pic that Nite posted really shows just how much is going on and how dense things are getting, just a shame that the vertical growth has to go along either north-south or east-west without filling in spaces in between, constricted to transit corridors.
I was speaking to someone who just returned from China and they explained that Chinese cities might have the same population as
greater Toronto but all of that population is pressed into a much smaller space - equivalent to the Old City of Toronto or whatever. What that leads to is much more dense, more urban spaces. It also makes them easier to service with things like transit, although the differences between building those in China and Toronto cannot be understated.
A shame that the density of Vaughan Metro Centre has to exist in Vaughan instead of downtown but that's the nature of the sprawling skyscrapers that we're seeing.

Discussions on the City Discussions subforum I think indicate that Toronto is not only growing as its fastest rate ever (for skyscrapers) but also faster than most other places. We're talking up to 4 towers stretching 300m going up
simultaneously which is nearly unprecedented.
