Strange, I don't recall him protesting the Olympics at all.
The BCCLA did provide legal observers to record anti-Olympics demonstrations, to ensure no laws were being broken by the authorities, and they opposed a law that could have forcibly removed the homeless from the city. In the light of the history of Expo '86 and the loss of low income housing, that doesn't seem unreasonable at all - it's what you'd expect the BCCLA to do.
Is that too subtle a difference for you to understand?
