Not really [Moncton] Northwest, but the Salisbury Road area is in a bit of a dead zone in terms of neighbourhood threads, and this is the best fit.

Campbell Auto is planning a new dealership for 614 Salisbury Road (more or less right across the street from Toys for Big Boys).

Structural steel for the Horsman Centre has been delivered and is on site. I suspect the framing will be going up in the next 7-10 days.

This aerial shot reinforces my belief that only the centre section of this retail plaza is currently under construction (not including the proposed pharmacy and bank on either side).

The Big Fish fish market in Valhalla Place on Mountain Road has permanently closed. Their other locations in Dieppe and Shediac remain open.

This development will contain six 6 Storey apartment buildings (a couple of which will have ground level mixed use components), and two smaller townhouse like buildings.

In the background you can see Ecole le Sommet, and in the distance, the new North End YMCA. Hopefully the portables at the school can be tossed once the new French school off of McLaughlin opens up.

From Mayor Dawn Arnold's summary of city council deliberations this evening:

This is for that last bit of undeveloped land in the Pinehurst neighbourhood, in behind NBCC and the Northwest Centre, where the new Shannex nursing home complex is being built. The rest of this land is slated for residential development.

The city wants to build a roundabout in behind NBCC to serve as a connector from Worthington and Ayer to Mountain Road. The development charge area is being proposed so that the cost of this connector will be born by the developer, and passed on to the lot purchasers who plan to build houses in the neighbourhood.

The connector will access Mountain Road between NBCC and the Northwest Centre.

A connection here has been on the City’s radar for some time. It was basically a matter of when, not if it was going to happen. I wonder if there would be a new traffic light added here. This could potentially also help alleviate backed up traffic by Boston Pizza as there would be another way out of the plaza without using mountain road.

I can't imagine that the intersection of this new connector to Mountain Road wouldn't be signalized.

1) - as you pointed out, this could be an important new escape route from the Northwest Centre, decreasing the pressure on the current signalized exit across from Plaza Blvd.
2) - this will likely become the main access route to the NBCC campus for college students (it leads right to the main parking lot behind the campus).
3) - it will vastly improve accessibility to the Mountain Road shopping area from Pinehurst.
4) - traffic will generally increase because of the development of the Shannex campus, and from the new residential areas to be constructed.

What will be interesting to see is if the city and the developers plan on building new apartment buildings in behind here, in addition to SFHs. My gut feeling is yes. Looking at this initial street plan, there seems to be abundant space between the proposed ROW and adjacent built construction to allow for a footprint large enough for multiple apartment buildings. I suspect it will end up looking like what is proposed for the Village at Twin Oaks development currently under construction.

Anyone know why PAN 06654394 on Coventry, just south of here, is greenfield? Other than 220 Worthington it's the last serviced bit of land in the area. Does NBCC own it?
