There has been a second vineyard on Lutes Mountain for the last several years.

The best known of the two of course is the Magnetic Hill Winery on Front Mountain Road. The larger vineyard (in terms of acreage) however belongs to Shaun Fraser (ex of the Pump House Brewery), and, now that he has sold Pump House, he has done a hard pivot, and now plans to invest heavily into his wine business. The appellation will be Pioneer Estate Vineyard, and they are currently constructing a production facility, retail space and tasting room on Whitfield Trites Road.

They are now starting foundation work for the Horsman Centre on Horsman Road. There are forms in the ground.

I don't think the whole thing is being built all at once. I think just the centre section. Certainly the large "pharmacy" section doesn't seem to be in the cards right now.

Pioneer Estate Vineyard is in my backyard. If any of you were wondering how my nickname on here was derived, it is the first 4 letters and the last 4 letters of the name of my street. [ Whitfield Trites ]

The KFC at Magnetic Hill apparently opens tomorrow. There is still some interior work left on the Burger King, but this should be opening very soon too.

Skipper Jack's on Mapleton Road is expanding and adding a seafood market.

We are very excited to confirm we have started our expansion process.

This will see our local seafood market Fisherman's Corner - Moncton's Local Seafood Market join us permanently in-house along with some additional modifications.

We understand parking is a concern, rest assured once completed the lot will be configured to actually provide more parking with a better flow of traffic.
This will have a temporary impact as we complete construction/renovations and appreciate all of your support & patience in the interim!

I wonder if they ever got the city to give them the extra land they need. They wanted to expand their parking, now that they’re expanding their building, the parking situation is only going to get worse.

No. Their original plans were scuppered over environmental concerns regarding the garbage strewn ditch (I mean vital fish habitat) along Carson Drive that would have to have been partially covered over.

They are building a small extension to their current building along the south side (I believe). They are sacrificing some parking, but according to their announcement, once the remaining lot is reconfigured, they will have more parking spaces than before.

We'll see...........

Do you happen to know the exact address for this restaurant combo? I was planning on adding a location for it onto Google Maps.

Finally, official confirmation that Popeyes is coming to Mountain Road. The announcement was made on 91.9 FM today, confirmed by the proponents.

This is only two years after the announcement was (unofficially) made here on SSP by yours truly (after some sleuthing)............

Mapleton Road between Mountain and Kendra will be closed until the end of September to allow for waterman renewal and reconstruction.

Mountain Road was super backed up today on my way to work. Give yourself extra time if your going to be in the area.

Wallabies (and Emus) have now arrived at the Magnetic Hill Zoo.

Quote:
The Wallabies aren’t out just yet for visitors, but Marvin expects it will be soon, “We did our walkthrough(of the exhibit) yesterday. Everything’s going really, really well. There are a couple of things to adjust. And next week we’re going to be installing the interpretation and the signage. The Wallabies will have their final veterinary inspection, and once those things are done, we’ll be gradually introducing them to the habitat and visitors should be able to see them before the end of the month.”

Nice drone shot of 2430 Mountain Rd. Moncton. Found on Facebook. Looks current.

I suspect the tower crane here will be taken down in the next couple of weeks.

Most of the apartment buildings in the middle background are on Diamond Head Court.

If you look on the far horizon, you can see Assumption Place and a couple of other taller downtown buildings.

It would appear that the Molson Canadian Centre at Casino NB has finally reopened. Nothing really inspired so far in the upcoming schedule, but there are five shows booked for the fall at present.

It would appear that Casino NB is back to pre pandemic levels of operation.

Still no buffet so I'd respectfully disagree with that
