Agreed. Si different from the angles we usually see. Vancouver is so dense, almost nothign but towers on the Peninsula, but drops dramatically south of False Creek.
The problem with getting older is that you notice these little things because you've seen the changes happen first hand. That makes the changes you don't like particularly annoying.
Funny, back in the 80s curmudgeons used to whine about "how are you?" and "have a nice day!" because they found the pretend concern grating. Now I'm an older guy, and I'm sick of so pointedly being ordered around all the time.
"Enjoy your rest of your day!" And on news/opinion sites: "Here's what to think about ____." "What you need to know about _____." Don't let the _____ change the way you understand ______."
It's not my day or summer, and I won't enjoy or learn about it at the behest of some anonymous news aggregator or social media algorithm.
Oh well, rant over. Back to browsing Kijiji for used guitars. I have to admit, I do find it handy that ads for online music stores pop up all over the web for me these days. All these commercial offerings associated with my personal interests make me feel less alone in the world.
Good lord, that's a beautiful image of Vancouver. I find it interesting that there's only 3 buildings I can identify from that angle. It's amazing seeing it out of context from the CBD or the Olympics stadium area, just as a seperate entity. It still has incredible heft and looks imposing from that angle.

Yes, it drops down dramatically to Le Plateau level density. With the subway coming on line in 2025, the Broadway Corridor will soon be as dense as the peninsula.

I'm always, always disappointed by how unimpressive the escarpment in Hamilton looks from a distance or the air. You get a pretty terrific view going up and down it in a bus or a car, so you tend to think it's more imposing than it actually is.

The foreground is close to Ottawa street which is a popular retail street with several hip restaurants and which is known for its several antique shops.
The Delta is generally full of nice post-ww1 2 storey brick homes and is close to gage park, it’s quite nice. I actually almost bought a house there.

So much potential for added density even just in the immediate foreground b/w Icon and the Queensway. That entire stretch of Preston can and should be built up in the future.
