I hope that’s not the case. In all the fundy quay renderings there is a building with “cultural” labelled on it. My hope is that it will be the new site of the museum

That cultural building isn’t big enough to be the museum.

I suspect (hope) that the building labelled as "cultural" is an exhibition space for the museum with the main location on Douglas. If they move the storage and other departments out of Douglas to a more appropriate space that will free up a tremendous amount of square footage. With the potential revitalization of Main Street - a renovated museum on Douglas would be a great anchor to that end. Rumour has it that there is also a big name donor who is involved as well.......

I think it would be neat if the NB Museum had all of their market slip history in the cultural building.

There’s a potential idea. Make the building glass so you can see the scale of the ship from the outside as well.

That would be a really cool idea, especially if you could walk on the deck of the ship.

From what I understand, that model of the ship is structurally unsound - not sure what, if anything, could be done with it.

Three year old news article about the replica:

https://www.thewave.ca/2019/06/10/marco-polo-replica-to-moved-monday-evening/

The replica is 1/3rd scale. I'd take a drive down to SJ just to see the thing. It would make a great anchor to any exhibition space regarding SJ's shipbuilding or maritime heritage.

Orange Tower Crane

I spotted an orange coloured tower crane in pieces on Bayside Dr (Gulf Operators lot). They definitely don’t use these types of cranes during refinery upgrades / maintenance. Can anyone confirm it is indeed a tower crane?

Is the Dunnett Drive photo off of Heatherway? As for the orange tower crane I can’t think of any current project that would need it. Unless a currently stalled project is about to take off? The only crane pieces I’ve ever seen in that area have been yellow or white and they are usually roller cranes. Also nice to see tower crane pieces for Technology Drive have come in. The base piece has been in the ground for a month now.

Yes Dunnett Dr is the new street off of Heatherway. Building number 1 is 24 units, but they increased building number 2 to 30 units. The foundation looks like it will be for another 30 unit. I’m quite sure it looked like a tower crane but was hoping someone else may spot it to confirm.

Took a drive by Gulf Operators and I’m pretty confident the pieces are for crawler cranes. There is a couple different colours so I assuming they are for multiple cranes. Most likely for the next shut down which I believe is this fall?

Should be a very visible crane once it goes up - I was sailing through the Narrows on the weekend and you can see the crane base from certain angles even from the water in the North End, so I'm looking forward to the impact it will have from a lot of viewpoints.
