As I just mentioned in the church thread, a couple days ago was the first time I'd ever been to DT Kitchener. Shamefully, I'd only passed through on the highway. Anyway, it was eye opening. I see the talk here about what's going on and now that I've seen it first hand, I get it. Maybe because it was new to me, but I felt some real energy there. There's definitely some aspects that make it feel like a bigger city than it is.
By the way, I love the Kaufman Lofts. It ain't Mayfair in London, but I've never seen anything like this here outside a big city. Doesn't have the architecural intracacies you'd ideally want to see but I love the wall effect along the street. I'd love to see more of that in the medium sized cities. Basically, places that are too big to have a quaint downtown.
I also noticed that there's a Crowne Plaza. I pictured those as more bigger city hotels. I stayed in a couple in the US. One in Columbus and the other I can't remember. But I see there's actually one in Fredericton. There's also a big one in Niagara but that's not much of a surprise given the tourist volume.
The dream streetscape. Can't have this here but I'll take what we can get.
