Perhaps in summer. In winter, both KL and AC have much higher traffic (1 daily and 2 dailies respectively) for what would need sterile transit.

No. What matters is the connecting volume on to flights that would actually use sterile transit. ... WS wins this metric in every season, KL is pretty much zero.

I know WestJet isn’t part of the SkyTeam Alliance. But how much traffic does WS send KLM’s way vs connecting them on their own flights to Europe ?

WS launching seasonal flights to BOS tomorrow, running 3x weekly on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday until early September.

Was originally suppose to start in May 2020.

Inaugural Boston 100% full both ways on an -800. 174 seats.

These days WestJet could fly an airplane to the middle of nowhere and it'd be full, mind you... but the first while looks good. Lots of YEG and YVR originators.

Any idea how lynx is doing? Seems like a pretty tough summer to start operating. I'd imagine flair is struggling also?

Lynx loads are fine, as all domestic flights are at this time.

Flair loads are good also, of their Alberta flights only the transborders out of YEG are not doing well. Where Flair is struggling is taking massive delays and being stretched thin. Canadian North and Sunwing are doing some chartered flying for Flair so they can try to recover. Lynx is on the verge of falling into that same boat. When they take a big delay, there's no slack in the sked for them to recover with the few frames they have.

This is not to say that AC and WS are not also taking big delays, but they're generally more predictable.

Very surprised no one has posted this here yet. Reposted from the YVR thread:

AAA's list: From Sea to Shining Sea: AAA Predicts 47.9 Million People Will Travel This July 4th

"AAA booking data reveals that big cities and international classics are top destinations this Independence Day. AAA data shows that bookings for air, car rentals, cruise, hotel, and tours are up 60% over last year for the top domestic Independence Day destinations and up 252% for international. "

I know it's not pure science or based on actual travel numbers, but it's a positive sign that AAA (which is highly reputable and a big player in the American travel industry) didn't release a random list without facts behind. The fact that YVR is #1 and YYC #7 is pretty impressive, they are measuring all international travellers. To be in the same company as powerhouses like London, Paris, Cancun is a very positive sign that tourism business in YYC and YVR are selling themselves right

It looks like WestJet Summer seasonal flights from Calgary YYC to Quebec City YQB is ending /cut from its schedule moving forward as July 5 2022 & its available through a connection in Toronto YYZ on WS Encore.

Only Air Canada Rouge YYC - YQB Summer 2022 seasonal flights is still operating a few times weekly.

Not too surprised that YYC - YQB cut for WestJet, as couple weeks ago WS CEO has said their plans to shift focus to Western Canada & changes for Eastern Canada. https://calgaryherald.com/business/westjet-ceo-unveils-new-strategic-plan-for-airline

Nah, the major draw down out east will come next year. WS is scrubbing YQB because Rouge is obliterating them on it, mostly because Quebec hates WestJet.

That more so applied to regional Eastern routes, not the transcons out of YYC.

It looks like Flair Airlines is cutting the Calgary YYC - Comox YQQ few times weekly flights as of July 16 2022.

This route started end of March 2022 for them.

Oh well YYC- YQQ will still have nonstop daily flights on WestJet.

YEG-YQQ is doing shit also, massively underperforms vs all their other domestic routes and is rarely over 100 pax. Terrible launches by Flair with the wrong airplane.

WS has extended LHR to year-round, with daily flights loaded starting October 30th. As of now, LGW is still bookable 4x weekly, but I imagine that will change.

I wonder if this is the year CDG ends up being extended year round. There'll still be a lot of slack with no YYZ-LGW and 7 787's lying around.

^ I wonder when WS will announce a high density 787 configuration. If they are truly going back to their LCC roots, then it only makes sense to have a few 400 seater 787s for the trunk routes in winter. (Cuba, PVR, CUN, PUJ, MCO, etc)

I think its inevitable really....
