Yes that's great, I actually just saw it on Google Flights and was going to post something, didn't realize it was on AeroRoutes yet. Googe Flights only has a smattering of flights so far, but they load them weirdly like that. Perfect timing haha they must've sensed our AV geek skeptism lol, sometimes I think industy people in lots of different industries check this board to see what's the buzz.

So we will have Istanbul, Delhi, Singapore and Bangkok this winter. A few years ago these 4 were still almost pipe dream destinations non-stop (some more than others). Now we have them all. Is it too greedy to now expect a South American destination? That would really be the icing on the cake. We need to become a 5 continent airport lol, and Africa seems way too unlikely, so bring on Colombia/Peru/Ecuador!

So as a tech stop I assume AC won't be selling the YVR-DUB or DUB-DEL legs?

Knowing the YVR-DEL flights, I'd imagine they won't need any additional sales to fill a 3xPW, but year round flights to Dublin would be a nice touch.

Just booked flights home for Xmas - first time in 3 years!
SQ it is. Jumped on it as soon as we found out the flights were extended.
Nonstop on the return YVR-SIN scheduled at 16h50m.
Stopovers in SIN both ways. Very excited about this route.

I feel like the next obvious choice for a new destination should be in South America, maybe somewhere like Bogota or Lima.

Once Asia fully reopens, such route could be appealing for those who travel between Asia and South America. If the flights are timed, it could be another option for those who want to avoid traveling through LAX or JFK.

If South America is a no, I wonder what other destinations YVR can pick up on a yearly / seasonal basis.

Maybe getting some of the pre-pandemic destinations back? More Japan and south-east Asia? South Pacific? Central America? More UK? Europe? MEL, MAN, LIR, SJO, NGO, CTS, CEB, SGN, HAN, NAN, PPT, PTY, GLA, EDI, BCN, FCO, etc...

Yes it's nearly impossible to beat out London Paris and Rome but Vancouver did!

Wow that is quite the statistic from AAA, they are very respected in the states so I think at least their reporting and methodology is probably sound (not like those stupid Facebook clickbait sites "Click here to see the Top 10 European destinations. #8 will shock you!" lol). I think it's great for Vancouver and Calgary to both be on that list, shows that one western city need not cannebalize the other. I am very surprised Toronto or Montreal aren't on that list though. Isn't Toronto supposed to be the biggest tourist destination? I can understand how cruises add to Vancouver's total to push it higher, but don't see how that explains both Toronto and Montreal being absent altogether? It covers all forms of travel too, air included. Very weird, almost makes the list seem invalid to a degree, or maybe I'm just being overly skeptical lol. Just seems "odd" that Calgary made the top 10 and Toronto didn't. Even with Banff and that included, I never imagined Calgary would be there instead of Toronto. Certainly something to be proud of for them. But again, it's just a specific company's research, it isn't pure science. But it probably is a decent gauge of actual demand (seriosuly though, what happened to Toronto?!)

I’m currently in PUJ, which is on the list, and can confirm there are a shit ton of Americans here for July 4 weekend. Our hotel is packed, and the occupancy should die down come Tuesday, when a lot of Americans will go back home.

Toronto and Montreal aren’t on the list because Americans probably don’t go there as much this particular weekend, at least not to the same extent as they take cruises from Vancouver or Seattle. (Seattle is one of the top US destinations on the list)

It’s an Americans wish list. You gotta think like an American for July 4 weekend. Driving distance, Cruises, Disney, and warm beach destinations Are top of mind, Hence why YVR, Seattle, Florida, Hawaii, Cancún, Bahamas And Punta Cana are on there. With a sprinkle of Europe for those with more money to spend.

Very true, same reason why Reykjavik and outskirts are absolutely overrun with American tourists but if you drive an hour or two outside of the city while still on the very well trodden tourist trail you stop hearing 'Murican and hear a lot more French, Spanish, and Limey accents.

Americans don't get a lot of holiday time and those that do use Iceland as a short stopover to on the way to their great ancestral homelands of Ireland and Italy
