Because of what I said after; Singapore is picking up the slack that the Chinese and Japanese airlines have not been able to fill. Air China, China Eastern, China Southern, and Cathay were all double daily or more pre Covid, and Xiamen, Sichuan, HKA, JAL and Beijing Capital all flying daily or sub daily. So that's roughly 16 daily flights that are no longer running or running at 1 or 2 PW and are now looking for new connection points. To me it seems to be Singapore is well positioned to be one of those points.
I took the flight round trip in March, and in addition to being great service, it was full both ways. We were PY on the way there and J on the way back and both were full, as was back of the bus when I went for my mid flight wander.
No idea if the yields are making it work, but the loads must be there.
