Yes, but that lot is already zoned for 250'.

Some of the neighbors were concerned about views into their backyard, but that was only one person (I was at that meeting because I was curious). The rest of the folks were concerned about just raising the heights, the lack of much parking (which is what I would suspect will be the major complaint now, which I personally would disagree with because we gotta change the ocean of parking expectations), the weird building being proposed, and the suggestion to make the street go through, etc. made it only seem like it's changing zoning so that the developer can maximize profit, rather than zoning for a particular purpose. The committee seemed to agree with the neighbors, rather than the developer, which was the only time that happened that meeting. This proposal keeps it housing, has a reasonable relation to its neighbors, has a better parking ratio, and looks like it belongs, while still increasing the height a bit. I think this will end up going through if it hits city and financial marks.
I seem to remember more than this when it came to the opposition? It's been a while, so I don't remember clearly. I do remember it was proposed right around the time of the "Don't build the tower" opposition that was in full force for the Phoenix Country Club condo and I thought it had spilled over onto this proposal.

But I'm not sure why the neighbors would have been opposed to the lack of parking. Don't the residents know that more parking usually results in increased traffic? Being right next to a LRT station, this should have been the purpose of such a development and to market TOD with less parking and create more density. This may have fallen on the fault of the developer for not proposing it as such.
