Yellow tide? Okay, maybe not in a fresh water lake.

Pollen was brutal last May. This year not nearly as bad since there actually has been rain this year except about a 10 day stretch so I wasn’t expecting to see this on Georgian Bay. Was like this as far as I could see.

The warmspot was Winnipeg, MB at 27.3C.

I wish we could hold on until Monday until the cool off. It's GP weekend new week. It is the most important weekend weather wise of the year. Anything below 25C is a disappointment for me.

As for this summer, I don't care as much as others years. Will be away for nearly a month and busy with weddings and other stuff. I think it's good timing because I have no confidence we'll have a good summer this year.

Today should be the finest of the year so far. Also, turns out one of the uphill neighbour’s trees that hangs into my yard is a lilac (or is it Jasmine? I forget) - the big, especially fragrant lavender flowers. Only thing I’m missing in this area as far as I can tell so far is a laburnum!

AccuWeather’s forecast for the month looks very warm, and is even forecasting a 38C high for here on Wednesday. Hopefully it doesn’t get that hot though.

Regarding NIcko’s post, I’ve been to about 12 grand prix. I remember one that was pretty damn hot and one in particular where I was freezing as I wasn’t prepared and my dad wasn’t going to buy me a $150 jacket at the circuit. That was at a time where lots of people didn’t bother looking at forecasts. And that year I had silver seats way up near the top of the grandstand so it was even more cool. And I used to arrive for morning practice too so it was a lot cooler than the high. Out of curiosity, I looked back on Wikipedia during about a 20 year stretch when I would have made most my visits and these ones stood out:

June 7, 1998: 16

June 1, 1999: 31

June 18, 2000: 17

June 12, 2005: 32.5

June 8, 2008: 31

And to think, back in parts of the 70s and 80s in Montreal, Mt. Tremblant and Mosport it was traditionally held in late September or early October. I remember watching footage of them racing in cool weather. October 1978 had a high of 5. That was Gille’s win.

Cloudy and 19 at just before 11am. High of 24 expected today, but it's quite a but cloudier than I expected so we may have trouble hitting those highs this afternoon.

I got a new plant today - one from the wish list. A neon pothos. I’ve also ordered a lemon/lime philo that should be here on Wednesday.

The plant that was in that spot before is a Brazil philo - I grew it from cuttings from the beast of a plant in my bedroom (it’s as tall as me now). I’ve repotted it in terracotta (my chive(s) didn’t make it) and moved it over the sink.

Still nowhere near 25 here yet. I don’t think today is going to be the day

Although we've had a fair amount of rain lately, it's still been mostly sunny and temperatures have been quite comfortable. June so far is averaging 23/13 with a mean of 17.6.

This weekend has been perfect. Just a few clouds 25, humidex 30-32 both days. Longest days of the year, it feels summery and Lake Erie is just about warmed up

As a fisherman I'm not a fan of the rain, but it has been good for the grass and garden, especially when you're away and don't have to worry about watering. And no possibility of fire ban when you're in the woods.

Every year there's always a random pine tree that dies at the cottage for some reason. Dead pine needles make for good kindling. Even if they're wet they immediately light on fire. Makes a beautiful, rapid crackling sound too.

Up on Georgian Bay definitely not as comfortably warm as your locale by Erie. No humidity up there. Saturday was sunny and calm. Not hot but no breeze whatsoever so that made the beach very comfortable. And water temp is good enough for swimming but I'd want the air temp to be warmer. Steady rain Saturday night through Sunday till noon and then sun came out on and off. Below 20 and no humidity. Leave at 4:30 and arrive home two hours later and voila, nice to feel humidity again.

Today was the least amount of traffic I've ever seen on Sunday at peak cottage rush hour. Not a single slowdown on the 400. Nothing on the 401 either for some reason. I wondered if people saw the Sunday forecast and said forget about the cottage this weekend but Saturday was nice enough and usually that many people don't get turned off by poor Sunday weather.

Yesterday when I hit 25 Marty texted me while I was out savouring the moment: “Hope this makes the 10C tomorrow easier for you”

He’s a monster. But he was right. Currently 5C but there’s partial sun through the cloud and it’s not wet so… no complaints, really. Coffee outside in a robe was refreshing.
