It’s 3C at my place this morning haha. Won’t get much warmer than this.

I’ve got my first personal rain measurement. Since midnight this much has fallen:

Edit: walking down to the gym. Holy shit the cold is biting.

I was at my sister and brother-in-laws over the weekend in Bobcaygeon when the storm flew through. It was pretty intense, whipping trees about and a continuous rumbling thunder sound the whole time. Miraculously, there was no major damage in their immediate area from the winds, but it sounds like areas further south got hit pretty hard, particularly Uxbridge which declared a state of emergency. My brother-in-law had to go inspect some damage at a client's property on Sunday and said that the power lines all along Highway 35 were flattened, but lots of crews were out fixing them already. Over 200 thousand lost power in Ontario, and we still had no power when I left their place on Monday (lucky they have a backup generator).

I was reading stories of a number of cycling friends back in KW who had gone out for a ride in the morning as forecasts were only calling for bad weather in the afternoon. They got caught out in the storm and had to shelter in a ditch from the wind and hail and then make their way home for the last 15-20 km negotiating downed power lines and trees in pouring rain - definitely an epic ride! Some others at the Hydrocut (a mountain biking area in Kitchener) were at one of the trailheads while trees were crashing down around them.

Part of the severity of the storm seemed to be just how unexpected it was. We knew weather was supposed to move in later in the day, but this emerged several hours before meteorologists predicted.

I grew up in Uxbridge and have a lot of family there still - luckily nobody in my family sustained damage to their homes. One family member's street used to be full of mature trees that are essentially entirely flattened now though.

It's surreal seeing the photos online of the town being destroyed - seeing high school friend's apartment buildings have their roof ripped off, the church my pre-school was in with a collapsed roof, etc. Crazy, crazy stuff.

This video flies over town showing the damage:

No source, just going by how it feels when a certain temperature is experienced with very high or very low humidity. The Canadian system just feels much closer to reality than the American system as far as how I am feeling it that day.

Somehow, Cobourg largely avoided any damage. Everywhere around here got hammered but we didn't. Some leaves and small branches strewn about but that's it. There was a very intense downpour but the wind wasn't that extreme.

Yup, pathetic day out there. Cloudy, drizzly, some patchy fog, and a freezing 5 degrees at just before 11. Big, stark contrast from yesterday's 23. Northeasterly winds and cold temperatures will persist through most of the week.

Cute, harls.

The sun came out a little bit and has now warmed up my yard to a balmy 8C haha.

Weekend started off chilly but got to be great by yesterday.

And I have to say having a National Park I can ride my bike to is great. And only a 45min drive from my house as well.

Wild life was on full display as well.

Not shown are the very active Beavers.

For Newcomers to the area this is probably the first experience in a National Park.

And Monday spent the day in the yard. I believe Spring has finally sprung.

Literally winter again.

EDIT: It's now 5C at my place, 4C officially, and just back from the grocery. Not as biting as yesterday because I broke out the winter jacket, hat, and gloves again

Sun and cloud and 7 degrees at just before 10:30am. Not going to warm up too much more today. Looking like the entire 7 day forecast is looking depressing and cold.

13 and sunny, going up to 21. The entire 2-week forecast is also above 20 degrees, the first time this year. Some hot weather in the forecast on Monday, with a 30 degree day on the forecast.

You should move to the mainland Marty. At least in inland portions of NB we have a proper continental climate and get pleasant springs.

I don't even need to go that far. Where I grew up (appx. 3 hours southwest of St. John's) has decent spring weather. Much less impacted by easterly winds than St. John's is.

Environment Canada really needs to start providing a content warning. When I click to see the long-range forecast for St. John’s, there should be a pop-up warning me to ensure I have the mental strength to see it before clicking Continue.

22C and sunny today. Nice day. Yesterday was 18C, sunny again. We are now in typical late spring period where humidity is still low, days are now pleasantly warm but nights/mornings are still somewhat chilly.

It won't be long before summer arrives with the constant warmth. I hope it's there by GP weekend!

Low of 8C this morning.

The warmspot was Nipawin, SK at 26.0C.
