Not a bad project, but it could have been so much more. I wish they would have shelved it indefinitely in the hopes or reviving their original vision in the future.

Happy to see this lot finally being developped but this project is very dissapointing. The original project of 30 floors, 3 towers would have been perfect for densifying this prime location if not for the appartment building across the street. I mean it's not like they owned a condo. They could have moved if they didn't like the view.

An article in Le Droit linked in a previous comment mentionned that only 26 signature from the 148 tenants was enough to block a project. That's only 17%... Gatineau really needs to change their rules if they want to densify the core. Great example of NIMBY

At least the average population of that area, and most of old Hull, is getting old....like, won't be around soon old. Hopefully when the young people come in and start gentrifying the area attitudes will change and Hull can finally stop being such an ugly old disaster.

Yup, Provincial, and that dumb rule kills soooo many worthy projects, like the greenhouse (Serres Notre-Dame) in old Gatineau and another project at Allumettières and Maisonneuve.

For sure. It has great potential. Good bones to become a higher class traditional main street, with retail and a relatively non-oppressive width.

The NIMBYs in the tower may have won the referendum, but the sidescraper they got probably blocks more of their view than point towers on podiums would have, as is usually the result in such cases in Ottawa/Gatineau. I'm pretty sure it has another floor to go before topping out too. Sheer idiocy.

NIMBYs are incapable of understanding that slim towers are better than bulky side-scrappers. Same density, but less shadows on any one spot, and the preservation of some views. It's madening.
