This is definitely looking better than the first render we had. I really like the little overhang at the top.

Why can't more buildings do this? It didn't cost anything in the grand scheme and it really finishes off the building. They even made a little hole on the front corner! Take notes folks.

I cant believe how expensive a 1 bedroom has become in this city. These units don't even have balconies. its right next to a busy street (King Ed) and 500m away from an injection site hardly an ideal location.

The windows on this building are huge! The brickwork and lintels are also looking great. I would also imagine the front corner of the building will be mostly glazing? That coupled with the cupola on the roof and that weird hole thing should look great.

For a building that had pretty ho-hum renderings this thing is turning out very nice.

Ottawa has some really nice low and mid rise buildings. Would love to see this carry over onto a 27 floor big boi.

The high quality materials and glazing continue. This one is a nice surprise, I find it to be perfectly adequate infill for it's location. When have we ever been reverse bait & switched in this city?!

the scale is right, the look is right, and it give a nice continuity with the building on the other side of King Edwards

I'm not sure that I could ever live in a place where the windows only open 2 inches.

I think it's safe to mark this one as complete.

The chrome letters are a really nice touch. Perfect contrast to the ole tire treads.

This really turned out to be a great project. Especially after the initial rendering. It's amazing what a little detail on the roof line can do to a building.

Ottawa has so many nice low and mid-rises. Anything over 12 floors and its a gamble.

She's a beaut! Kinda of liked the original design that had a mid-century vibe, but real happy with the end product with a mix of modern and traditional. They really nailed the rendering, with the exception of the "H" in Hillside, which was supposed to pop-out a bit more.

Didn't see any pics of the exterior of the building. With such a nice final product, you'd think they would want to show it off.

Wow.. haha.. you weren't kidding. It's like they took a photo of the building and put an Instagram filter on it.

This is how all new building should be like!
Remain very close or identical to the approved render,
Scaled to increase density as much as possible while remaining human scaled,
Respecting the architectural fabric of its surrounding,
Have a colour palette that isn't Grayscale.

It might be a little dark for my own taste, but I think it is okay. So long as all the other project in the vicinity don't start looking exactly like that one. Being unique gives power to a project's architecture.

I hate when one design becomes a trend that everybody copies, currently it is the charcoal and grey, and zebra/barcode windows. Hopefully dark red brick with everything else black isn't the next fad. It reminds me of radio stations playing the same songs over and over until everybody is tired of listening to them.

When trends ends, things often become tacky. Just think of wood paneling basements. We might think the same about barcode windows in a few years.

Other than the banner, the frontage along the sloping hill is so much more interesting than the Storey of Rideau & Chapel
