I'm between a rant and a rave on this. It's not what I imagined the tallest tower in TX should look like, but there's something about it that I like, maybe how unique it is. I will say this though, the senior living tower next door could use a facelift.

My biggest complaint is the way the "brick" façade is used over multiple floors essentially playing a trick on your eyes by making it look shorter than it actually is. It's like the Bellagio effect in Vegas where their 'windows' are multiple floors high. Almost as if they want this to be tall, but not actually look as tall.

But really, this thing is just a meme of all the 2010-2020s design trends mashed up, with the now-standard segmented amenity floors, angled exposed support beams, and staggered lines/windows.

Not horrible, just a modern cliche on a massive scale. This could and should be done a lot better.

Yep. Sorry. What I meant was if the rendering was stretched, the new towers could have been added electronically.

This building has some strange angles that I think are hard to convey in a rendering like this, with a limited number of perspectives. I'm hoping that when we see it in 3D the odd angles come together more coherently. For example, I like it from the aerial southern perspective, where we get some good vertical tapering up towards the roof, but from the lower western and south eastern views the top segment comes off as fat and awkward, I think because of the way the southern face angles towards the river, which shouldn't appear as flat in 3D.

All of your criticisms are valid, but it is worth pointing out a major plus: 98RR looks based on other plans to provide very solid street-level interaction, and the first several floors are most certainly not a parking podium. Unless something drastically changes about these renderings to make the base look like the Fairmont, then it will also look pretty nice from the ground floor...

It doesn't (initially) make since to have a signature tower - one that will be the tallest in Texas - as rental. Especially if they are planning on having a 5-star hotel associated with this project.

I've never heard of this one being condos. To my knowledge the developer only does multifamily (rentals).
