Seems to be up to 142 departures.

Nice list of Transborder/International routes from Alberta this Summer. Everything from YYC is back (except for AUS).
That's Great!

That's much better than what I was expecting. 4Y is basically replacing DE (one extra frequency).

Yes Condor would have been feeling some capacity pressure and obviously 5 weekly on Eurowings was too much for them too.
Also shifting most flights to the smaller 332 - less premium and more economy which seem to suit the market better

- First WS of the season to Nashville tomorrow is 100% full outbound.
- AC transborder RJ's are all doing well (LAX, SFO, PHX)
- AC will almost surely stick with 1x 220 through the peak of summer, if advance bookings are any indication
- I'm prying for info on FCO, DUB, LHR for WS. My WS source is being stingy

CDG back tomorrow too. Starts on Thursdays only for 2 weeks, then flies Monday, Thursday & Sundays (opposite days of LHR).

Agreed. I had doubts that they'd actually fly 5x weekly. At the end of the day YYC is a relatively small market and WS is the only real way for it to see significant growth internationally right now.

Calgary based Lynx Air is adding another new domestic route for YYC in the Summer 2022 season:

Calgary YYC - Hamilton YHM 2x weekly from June 29 Wednesday & Sunday and 4x weekly from July 29 with Friday & Monday added in.

The schedules are (subject to change) but that’s what it looks like currently.

No too bad for Calgary YYC - Europe flights Summer 2022 season from Western Canada & sure Vancouver YVR- Europe has more at 86 per a week (on 10 different airlines). Combined Calgary & Vancouver - Europe flights total is 133.

While Edmonton - Amsterdam on KLM is only Europe nonstop for YEG operating at 3x weekly.

YVR has more service than YYC... thank you for enlightening us with that stunning piece of information.

My wife and I are planning a trip to Croatia this Sep. Flights out of YEG are all 2 stops and either funnel through YYC, YYZ or YUL. There is a direct YEG-AMS on KLM but it doesn't make it in time to connect to Split (SPU). From YYC we can get a 1 stop in AMS with a 2 hr layover before flying to SPU same day. Sounds just about perfect and the flight is over $400 cheaper than anything decent out of YEG.

So we are thinking of driving to Calgary and parking for about 21 days. Is the economy lot usually the best option for this amount of time? I heard sometimes it fills up.

I'm not sure about lots. I'm also not sure if this is an option for you, but would taking a bus (eg Red Arrow) to the airport in Calgary work for you?

It's hard to anticipate what the parking situation will be in September with loads drastically changing fairly quickly.

I have done this before. Typically I would fly to Wales with KLM. Previous to them flying from Edmonton, I would drive to Calgary. Each time I saved a $2-300, parked for free at a friends place. The issue was the long travel day back, the drive was gruelling. Hotel, parking, gas, all eat into those savings, even more so now.

A hefty increase in Transatlantic flying comes this weekend:

KLM goes 1x daily, and drops YEG tag.
AC goes 1x daily on FRA / 5x weekly on LHR (Up from 5x FRA / 2x LHR)
WS goes 3x weekly CDG/ 4x weekly LHR (Up from 1x CDG / 2x LGW).

Also February stats have been posted:

Domestic: 500,108 +183.0% (YTD: 975,552 +154.4%)
Transborder: 116,817 +971.4% (YTD: 212,36 +421.0%)
International: 80,605 +1792.1% (YTD: 163,312 +583.89%)
2022 YTD: 1,350,230 +201.53%

The most noteworthy thing is the international numbers are already at half of what we did in all of 2021, meaning we'll likely blow those numbers out of the park.

WestJet LHR bookings are good through the end of summer. It's gonna be a hell of a battle vs AC as this moves forward. This is going to be the most interesting summer in a long time.

304 out of 320 pax on the inaugural LHR for WS tonight. They've made it clear they want to run as many as 11x weekly LHR if they can get slots.

Tonight is the first night since BA left in October 2019 that there are 2 scheduled YYC-LHR flights, and the first night for 2 Canadian flights on the route since 2015 when AC ran 1x 333 and 1x 763. That slot has since moved to YVR.

Great! 304 passengers on the 1st WestJet flight to London, UK LHR is not too bad & signal that International traffic is picking Spring/ Summer 2022 season on flights, to/from Canada which nice to see.

Wish all a Enjoyable spring & summer travel season✅!
