I may be in the minority here... but having a full block footprint, it would have been amazing if they could have gone 700' or so. I'll just keep dreaming.

Yeah, I'm aware - hence "if they could have". I'll keep my fingers crossed that one day, Portland will allow taller skyscrapers.

If we are talking dream buildings, this is the tower I wish could have been built on this site. But with that said, I really like the size of this tower and would be more than happy to see a few more this size going up in Portland.

Honestly, I am liking the look of this new Ritz tower and how it stands out in its location. Also Portland already has an iconic tower, Big Pink. When I see Big Pink, I think Portland and that iconic view coming over the Burnside Bridge.

I like Big Pink and its location but I don't consider it iconic. It is by it's self and thus just looks tall.

My bet would be that the Lloyd District will be where Portland gets taller buildings (less trouble with Mt Hood sight lines, larger block size, good transit hub near by, central freeway location, more underdeveloped land with lower density, etc.). But some neighbors to the North will not like it's shadow for parts of the year.

Maybe the Lloyd Center super block can have a set aside for a true "iconic tower" in the NW corner for less shadow issues. Or maybe closer to the MLK/Broadway intersection. Would look amazing from MLK Blvd and Broadway(don't know the owners of those blocks at the moment).

Fun to think about, dream of, maybe learn sketch up (learning Revit now for school) to put together some massing ideas.

What is the best, cheapest, fastest tool to build up a neighborhood virtually with boxes? Input would be appreciated.
