Isn't it only 2-11? That's only 10 levels, but who's counting?

Being able to totally see, the angle of the parking floors, will not be attractive. I know eventually long views of this part of the building will be obscured by other buildings, however one can still see through the mess from across the street.

I personally would NEVER buy a unit in a building that treated the parking floors differently than the tower portion. In this case cover them in glass, or partial glass to look similar to the office floors. I would absolutely hate to come home every day to such a hideous excuse of a covering for the parking floors! I would want to have pride in my building; Not Embarrassment.
Yeah, there's nothing worse than seeing that cheap thin mesh at sunrise/sunset when you can notice all the imperfections of the panels that don't line up correctly. It's an obsessive thing I pick up on that drives me nuts!

So, is this monstrosity now officially under construction?

The tallest tower I am not excited for. Another copy/paste and stretched tower with a fugly podium. Some of these ugly/generic towers need to start getting denied. There's not too much room left downtown for all of these copy-towers with absolutely no creativity whatsoever.

It may have moved from site prep to U/C because it looks like they started column construction.

Can someone remind me how much retail will be on the ground floor? Is it just a small coffee shop space?

I don't believe we know for sure, yet. But based on Handel's page about it, they say:

"Both the residential and office entrances are located along West 6tth Street, and are framed in vertical terra cotta slats providing both transparency and screening. A signature double-height retail space anchors the corner of West 6th and Guadalupe Street."

So at least one garage entrance, along with two lobbies and therefore two elevator banks, and only one mention of retail space. I'd say it's likely to be a small coffee shop, and not much more.

This one looks to be U/C as cement trucks are arriving on site to most likely start column construction.

It's a major intersection so this will always be very visible. I could care less what the cover it with as long as I can't tell it's a parking garage. Cover it with particle board for all I care. It would probably look way better than what they are going to do.
I'm gonna say though if our podiums don't get better the city should ban them all together. Would love to see less parking in a building built right across the street from a future subway station.

There is no structural elements being poured yet. The concrete you see onsite is for Oscar Orduno(orange equipment) who is preforming the temporary soil retention system.

This project will excavate down a bit before they begin structural construction

I don't ever recall a ROW closure for a crane installation being filed so far in advance. Usually it's two months or sooner.

3 1/2 months for excavation and foundation work? Seems awfully long for such a small site with no underground parking. They must have a ton of utilities to move.

Could be soil remediation. There once was a dry cleaning plant near there that left a plume of ground water contamination all the way to City Hall.

Plaza Lofts a block away had to have testing for a good 10 years because of the dry cleaner
