This project is so 'kind of ok' for me. I'm naturally biased against Neuf/RLA and their grayscale obsession but I guess this is alright, because it's different than anything else in the immediate vicinity at least.

I do not hate it. It puts lots of people right on top of a train station at least, and should liven up the west end of downtown.

Yeah for me the density it adds and the potential grocery store makes me like this project. Otherwise its a very dark looking building

As with a lot of the new projects in Ottawa, from a distance it adds density and depth to our CBD. Up close it is....meh. Not offensive at least.

According to the last post-approvals drawings I could find, the top of the mechanical penthouse is 85m (84.562m).

I was optimistic for this one in terms of quality and design, but that optimism has now faded. Just another series of black towers with no set-backs. I was hoping to see more of the beige brick, but they really kept it at a minimum. The framing above the lower portion seems very weak compared to what was rendered (though it may not be complete).

It terms of quality of materials, a step-up for Claridge, but not on design.

I preconditioned myself for cheapout compared to the renders. That's just Claridge being Claridge.

It's almost comical to look at the original design compared to what they built

I'm sure Claridge would be capable of building something that is sufficient in quality to live up to their renderings. ....Priced at $2,000/square foot and delivered 8 years after groundbreaking.

You know what, I was almost going to say this project has turned out half-decent until I saw this rendering. Now I'm furious.

I am going to hold off my final opinion until we see some balcony glass. Everything looks horrid with 2x4 balcony railings and the post-apocalyptic hellscape of Ottawa in February. This might turn out to be Claridge's best since 700.

Cross post.

Begging for set-backs and a clearly defined podium. Too much wall!!

I would be furious if I had bought into this based on the renders.

Really hoping this is just the basic structure and it will be beefed-up with final detailing.

The Western exposure of Moon does zero favours for our CBD skyline. It's as bad or worse than any of the old brutalist buildings in the city.

I just noticed the windowshade hearts on PDV C today. How long has that been going on??

Which is bizarre, as you’d think that is the side where the best views would be.

Oh crap, that's a twist! I didn't think that was even possible given how prominent these things will be in our skyline for.....all time!?! It's like someone forgot to tell Claridge that we have the ability to build buildings that are nice on 4 sides. Someone tell me a good reason this type of shite keeps happening to our "tall" buildings. Is it cheaper? More energy efficient?

Not sure how long the hearts have been at PDV C... but they are a nice touch at night.

I'm guessing they neglected that side in the eventual possibility (probability?) that the neighbouring building gets redeveloped.

I'm picturing a new Claridge Plaza / Envie situation.

Not sure, but the Hilton Lac Leamy had been doing the same thing because of Covid and empty rooms. I don't know if they are still doing it.
