AA to PHX was cut ages ago.

Looks like transborder in the summer is ramping up to be a busy one as recovery continues.

As of now the US carriers are scheduling approx 35 daily:

United 13 daily to SFO/ORD/DEN/LAX/IAH/EWR
Delta 8 daily to SEA/SLC/MSP
Alaska 8 daily to SEA/PDX
American 4 daily to DFW/ORD/LAX
JetBlue 2 daily to BOS/JFK *new*
Sun Country 2 weekly to MSP *new*

Delta tends to update/add a bit later

AC and WS and Flair also ramping up for summer
Nice to see AC Dreamliners back on EWR

California Dreaming? - almost 30 daily alone!

SFO 11-12 daily
LAX 10 daily
SAN 2-3 daily
SNA 2 daily
SMF 1 daily
BUR 4 weekly
PSP 2 weekly

ANA emailed sometime recently saying their flight will switch to Narita on March 1st.

The new flights will run Mon-Wed-Sat (rather than Mon-Wed-Fri) and going west will leave at 11:20AM and arrive at Narita at 2:50PM the next day, a full 4 hours earlier than the flight to Haneda (which makes up a bit), along with a reduction in scheduled flight time by 1 hour starting March 13. Going east however will now need to be at Narita for a 6PM departure (rather than ~10PM Haneda), arriving home at around 11AM.
Oh man... are you serious? Any word on if that's permanent? Why!!!!!?

I can't stand flying through Narita. The transfer to Haneda for anything domestic is annoying.

If the Japanese government still allows transit, then same-day transfers are still allowed without needing to clear immigration so long as they are within the same airport. This means that going forward, it would have to be through NRT. Flights must leave on the same day as arrival at NRT.

This is correct, Japan still allows transfers last I checked from the same airport provided you do not clear immigration into the country.

They ARE taking the first of many many steps to re-opening their borders though so the picture may be different by the summer.

Just going to leave this here as well as this was the official communication from ANA regarding the switch from Haneda to Narita for YVR flights. Overall, my personal opinion is that the flight times are slightly worse-timed.

Summer 2022 Europe network update

86 flights per week on 10 different carriers:

AC LHR 2 x Daily 789
AC FRA Daily 77W
AC DUB 4 x weekly 788
AC ZRH 5 x weekly 789

LH FRA Daily 744
LH MUC Daily 359

BA LHR Daily 388

KL AMS Daily 772

AF CDG Daily 789

WS LGW Daily 789

DE FRA 4 x weekly 763

WK ZRH 3 x weekly 343

FI KEF 4 x weekly 75W

TK IST 3 x weekly 789

Changes since last post are both AC LHR daily flights now scheduled on 789s instead of a 789/788 split.
KLM now showing the 772 for the entire summer schedule

Also to note:
Condor has dropped its plans to fly to YYC. Therefore, YVR and YXY are the remaining Western Canada destinations for them this summer (YXY maintains one weekly flight)
British also not resuming YYC, so YVR remains their only Western Canada destination. And of course they are bringing back their A380 on the YVR-LHR route!
Also with Icelandair not resuming YEG, YVR will be the only Western Canada destination for them.

My Japanese friend is headed to Japan to visit family in a couple of weeks and is saying he has to endure a forced government quarantine in NRT for 3 days before continuing on to KIX. So is a same day transfer even possible if one has to quarantine?

I was referring to int'l-int'l transfers, so the traveller would not step on Japanese soil (thus not needing to clear immigration), and if at NRT, only if it's a same-day flight meaning arrival of incoming int'l flight and departure of outgoing int'l flight are on the same day. If your friend is doing an int'l-domestic transfer, I'd assume they'd need to clear immigration and comply with whatever quarantine requirements are needed as they are physically entering Japan.

Amazing! YVR definitely punches above it's weight.

Being "forced" to endure a 3-day quarantine in Japan is pretty cushy. Government foots the bill as well.

But yeah, government pays for a hotel for 3-days... and then you are meant to self-quarantine at home.

Related: If you get COVID in Japan... the government sends you a care package.

His words!

Guess he didn’t realize, considering the experiences many told of arriving in Canada when quarantine was required here!

Another possible scenario is people staying a couple of nights after ship docks in Alaska.

Summer days in ANC, Alaska are long so you’re making good use of your time in the Far North. Even in the end of April, the Sun doesn’t set until 10pm.

1am is a tough time but allows you to make the most of your time I guess

Interesting, well the Air Canada Vancouver YVR - Austin route will be the only 1 from Western Canada to AUS this Summer 2022 as WestJet’s Calgary YYC - Austin is gone for Summer.

No. Last year was scheduled, but never flown.

Interesting choice for AUS though. I thought they would try something like IAD first. YVR-AUS isn't really particular high in the O&D traffic list, but the last release for the data was all the way back in 2014:

Code:
✅ Los Angeles, California 631,635
✅ San Francisco/Oakland, California	342,968
✅ Hawaii, Hawaii 323,347
✅ Las Vegas, Nevada 227,570
✅ New York, New York 183,635
✅ Phoenix, Arizona 134,349
✅ Chicago, Illinois 113,789
✅ Palm Springs, California 79,381
❌ Washington/Baltimore, DC 65,780
☑️ Boston, Massachusetts 62,730
✅ Denver, Colorado 58,850
✅ Houston, Texas 58,560
✅ San Diego, California 55,439
☑️ Orlando, Florida 55,263
✅ Portland, Oregon 53,100
✅ Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas 50,269
❌ Fort Lauderdale, Florida 42,596
✅ Seattle/Tacoma, Washington 42,040
   Miami, Florida 39,521
❌ Atlanta, Georgia 35,760
   Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 30,800
✅ Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota 29,050
✅ Salt Lake City, Utah 25,300
☑️ Anchorage, Alaska 23,180
❌ Detroit, Michigan 22,910
   Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida 21,899
✅ Austin, Texas 21,880
✅ Sacramento, California 21,630
   New Orleans, Louisiana 18,700
   Charlotte, North Carolina 15,170
   Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina 13,800
   Nashville, Tennessee 13,000
   St. Louis, Missouri 12,730
   San Antonio, Texas 11,120
   Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 11,000
   Kansas City, Missouri 10,670
   Indianapolis, Indiana 10,470
✅ Year-round, ☑️ Seasonal/Limited service, ❌ Suspended since 2020

I think IAD and MCO was on the plan AC released years ago. Not sure if they're still planning on starting those routes.

Thank you for that information! I think MCO is very logical from YVR and odd (but still nice) that AUS was chosen before IAD.

So MIA is missing in action. Due to distance?
