Also redeveloping the Canada Post building on Sask Drive with maybe SIAST or some form of education program to bring more youth/students downtown. The Sask Drive and 11th Avenue streets both need rejuvenation (and yay that 11th is in planning phase).

Agreed there’s so much can be that can be done,
Also when they’re planning the new replacement for pioneer Village put it downtown
Another thing make a known where they’re going to build a new hockey arena downtown this could be a big game changer for the downtown

Key components to downtown and growing it as a living space and place to work and visit:
- Globe Theatre
- Cornwall Centre
- Central Library Redevelopment.
- Grocery Store to firm foundation for more residential downtown building projects. (Rose Street?)
- 11th Avenue Beautification (Albert Street to Broad Street starting in 2023) and further projects like this to redo sidewalks, add bike lanes, trees etc. downtown.
- Mixed-use infill development with street access retail/restaurant.
- A stronger tax incentive plan for residential/retail/office/hotel infill is obviously needed. Areas such as Broad Street which we know is a waste land need to be dealt with.
- Maybe higher taxes for land that isn’t being developed or empty.
- Continued beautification of the area (with art installations/permanent evening lighting installations).
- Movie theatre.
What else?
TREES!

I have been thinking about this for years. Apparently it is nearly empty. I suspect the bones are solid. Location is not great unless it is linked with the rail yard redevelopment. Large floor plates would make it viable for government offices, but likely precludes residential or a hotel. It would need a parking structure eventually, although there is plenty of ugly surface parking around it now.

I don't think Brandt is going to build a grocery store.

Partnerships for the Proposed New Indoor Aquatics Facility

Synopsis:
This Expression of Interest (“EOI”) is issued by the City of Regina (the “City”) for the purposes of gathering information about the marketplace in order to understand the interest from the market of future potential partnerships for the proposed new Indoor Aquatics Facility. Potential partnerships could include but are not limited to other levels of government, institutions, organizations or individuals (“Partners”). Funding partnership – Partners that will provide capital or operating funding for the Facility towards upgrades within the Facility and program areas, adjustments to the Facility and program areas, adjacent development of facilities or spaces, or additional programs;

Operating partnership – Partners that will lease or operate an aspect of the Facility; and

Other partnerships that provide an overall benefit to the community and are in alignment with the City’s strategic goals and plans such as the Recreation Master Plan and Cultural Plan.

Parkade proposed adjacent to Marriott hotel (Quality Inn) on Victoria Avenue and Broad Street with 4 CRU units on main floor (yay for downtown plan and guidelines). I already filled out the comment form as I would like new trees planted (as you can see there are none) adjacent to the current surface parking lot. I would also love some facade feature with evening LED lighting on the parkade.

Man, that parkade is ugly! Just a typical bare-bones parkade (and typical for Regina). Those guests staying in rooms on the south side are not going to have much of a view in the future.

And in response to yveseluj comment, YES! Build a damn parkade now! The government takes care of Saskatoon's THREE hospitals, but gives us crap. It would have cost much less had they built a parkade 20-30 years ago.

It would be really nice if Regina could get a brand-new mega hospital. You know - the kind that costs over a billion dollars. Oh right, we have no money in SK.

I mean, this proposal is private money for a parkade.

The provincial government can and should build one for the hospital.
