Researchers from the University of Regina are getting more than $500,000 US from the National Football League to study the potential of using cannabinoids for the prevention and treatment of concussions.

Cannabinoids are the naturally occurring compounds found in the cannabis plant.

The NFL-NFLPA Joint Pain Management Committee, which said it wants to better understand and improve potential alternative pain management treatments for NFL players, put out a request for research proposals in June 2021.

Could cannabis be used to prevent concussions? The NFL wants the University of Regina to look into it

There isn't an example of that in the last 10 years.
Old Mosaic Stadium is now a green field of weeds.

This is fair given that they banned us from having international flights.

Colourful LED light display on City Hall tower

If any of you are driving near City Hall at night, take a look at the amazing lighting on all four sides of the tower. I believe it just started this evening. I see it from my high-rise a few blocks away. It's better than anything they have done in the past. I assume this is just temporary, perhaps for the Frost Festival that starts tomorrow. I really hope they keep it year round.

Sorry, I can't get a good picture of it from my windows, but if someone goes down there, maybe you could take some pictures and post them

I think they might have installed them at Christmas. I thought I remembered the red/green being more vivid this year.

I can also see a bit of a view from where I live and poked my head out last night, too. Definitely agree that it's a a great look!

Well you see, if we just pretend oil will last forever all will be great! No need to focus elsewhere! (This temporary surge in prices is not going help!)

With the almost $3 billion and new developments coming Regina can focus more on agricultural industries in a big way

Regina trailing nearly all big Canadian cities in downtown population growth: census

By Connor O’Donovan Global News

think being second last, and actually losing 300 people downtown is deeply disturbing,” said Regina Mayor Sandra Masters when asked about the trend Wednesday.

“I think we set a target and didn’t hold ourselves accountable to that target many years ago when it came to an official community plan. We haven’t adjusted policies, we haven’t thought about coordinated efforts to focus on downtown revitalization.”

I've been saying the Regina downtown is trash compared to other cities in Canada. This is the proof , if we even needed it.

I am hopeful Sandra Masters uses her time in office to buckle down and get the Downtown issues resolved.

Key components to downtown and growing it as a living space and place to work and visit:
- Globe Theatre
- Cornwall Centre
- Central Library Redevelopment.
- Grocery Store to firm foundation for more residential downtown building projects. (Rose Street?)
- 11th Avenue Beautification (Albert Street to Broad Street starting in 2023) and further projects like this to redo sidewalks, add bike lanes, trees etc. downtown.
- Mixed-use infill development with street access retail/restaurant.
- A stronger tax incentive plan for residential/retail/office/hotel infill is obviously needed. Areas such as Broad Street which we know is a waste land need to be dealt with.
- Maybe higher taxes for land that isn’t being developed or empty.
- Continued beautification of the area (with art installations/permanent evening lighting installations).
- Movie theatre.
What else?
