I suspect in 5 years from now this photo will be completely different. There are so many comparisons to be made about the quality of streetscaping or streetlighting or other such things between the new development and the old ones. I think we all know (and generally support) the need for redevelopment to meet housing targets, but it's a very odd and surreal thing to actually see it happen to things other than, say, parking lots and strip malls (Burquitlam/Lougheed are just one example of where it's usually SFHs razed to make room for towers/apartments). It really awakens some bizarre sense of nostalgia and wonder for the future (maybe that's just me).
