Hopefully they just keep the beast underground and continue on to UBC...

Anyone up for hacking the location tracking software for the boring machines?

'Our top story: TransLink officials revealed the reason for Broadway tunneling taking almost twice as long as expected. According to officials, "it became obvious what had happened when we emerged in the basement of UBC's SUB instead of at Arbutus Station."'

I don't think that would work - after all they'll arrive at each station pit along the way.

Src broadway subway Twitter

Here is a non-boring pic from Jan 31st. Cool how you can now see the "trench" where the train will go.

Is there an API or page where it's updated?

Traffic deck at Main is being extended to the full four lanes this month.
Traffic deck at Cambie installation begins with completion in May.

Actually, there could be two blocks of underground construction.

The BOX between Yukon and Cambie for the station, and

The CROSS OVER between lines between Yukon and Alberta

We've been taking photos over the last few months, but never seem to get around to sorting through them to put them up.

That said, as of yesterday,

Main St - The traffic deck if fully in place on the north side, and work is well underway on the south side of the road. Quebec is only open to east / west travel.

Cambie - The trench on the north side is about as deep as an excavator, Yukon is only open to east/west travel, as the pit does indeed stretch for two blocks..

Laurel - I didn't get a good look, but the road surface has been gone on the north side for a while now, though nothing much is happening at the station site itself.

Granville. - The trench is pretty deep on the south side of the road. While nothing is going on for most of the station site, the tower planned at the corner of Granville and Broadway is now at grade.

Arbutus - It's been a couple since months since I was there, though at the time they were working on relocating the utility lines along the north side.

The Broadway Plan will allow high-rise strata here, so I don't think it will stay just a station for very long. That mural is one of the best (imo) to come from the Mural Fest. Too bad it will not be very visible when that corner is developed.

Should be relatively easy to plonk an Independent-sized apartment on top of it.

Wonder if the City will apply height restrictions? After all, the architect would still have the rest of the now-demolished block to play with...

Assuming City Council approve the Broadway Plan, it says:

» Building heights of 20 to 30 storeys for station area mixed-use secured rental housing or commercial development (e.g. office or hotel), and/or a strata residential component contributing towards community amenities.

» Require a significant minimum job space (non-residential) component for mixed-use development (e.g. 3 to 4 storeys of office above retail)

They recently added more noise wall protection just across the corner at St. Augustine School to reduce noise and dust from the construction at Arbutus Skytrain Station.

Did you read the mural? It clearly foreshadows it's own destruction (or obfuscation).
