The name "United Center" isn't completely god-awful, unlike a lot of these other corporate stadium/arena names. Yeah, it's kinda generically vanilla, but at least it's short and simple and doesn't automatically read/sound like a corporate-whore name.

Like United, Delta did the right thing too with the former "Delta Center" in SLC. that's not a terrible name, but you stick "airlines" in there and it becomes stupid.

But the home of the Jazz has since been renamed to "Vivint Arena" which does sound sorta dumb, mostly because I have no idea what Vivint is or does. It's yet another stupid made-up corporate word.

The Florida Panthers used to play in the "National Car Rental Center" which of course sounded like a place you would go to rent a car rather than watch a game.

Also I believe the current name FLA Live! Arena is not a corporate name. Which would make 2 for the NHL.

What I find interesting about The Forum is that from the late 1980s to about 2002 or 2003, it was known as "The Great Western Forum," when LA-based savings and loan Great Western Bank (or something) was given corporate naming rights to it, which was rare back then. "Great Western Forum" to me didn't sound bad, in fact if you didn't know it was a bank, you would think that was The Forum's original name.

Yes, Chick Hearn, who was a longtime Lakers sportscaster, referred to it as the Fabulous Forum. I realize Chick Hearn died a long time ago now.

In Omaha, the convention center/arena's naming rights were recently sold to a local healthcare provider who decided to rename it CHI Health Center. So now it looks and sounds like a humongous medical clinic:

While a corporate name, I like Hard Rock Stadium.

Pretty good name for a football venue.

Does it help sell gum? Probably. But who cares.

There is no corporate sponsorship between the Cubs and Wrigley (which doesn't even exist as an independent brand anymore).
