Back during the early rezoning, the plan was to create a plaza the length of Vanderbilt. But there was pushback to that, so only the area between 1 Vanderbilt and the terminal was closed off.

This building will be basically twice the height of the last 270 Park, so it will have a huge presence down Vanderbilt.
But we've come a long way since the early days of pre-demolition. Here's a look back, just over 3 years ago...
Sidewalk sheds were just beginning to go up.
And now we're watching this new baby rise!
