As I'm stuck in quarantine at the moment, I thought you SSPers would get a kick out of this virtual skyline video I made.

It's a tech demo that allows you to man a drone and fly it freely around this city. If you're stuck inside due to COVID, this is a very cool way to kill a few hours.

It's an impression based on the tallest plus the largest (office) development. Calgary's condos since the turn of the century are collectively boxier than Torontos but no one thinks of it with the likes of EAP, The Bow and Telus is the skyline.

Cool looking photo in terms of colour grading and composition - but is or has there been any discussion about how to reclaim all that land lost to roads? It it possible to reroute some or build another direct bridge or more transit to reduce the amount of vehicle traffic here? From a global perspective Edmonton is a small city and the amount of road infrastructure seems like overkill. I always felt driving around Edmonton that if anything it’s over served with endless road options and routes.

That was the only portion of the METS plan that got built (thankfully). This section is the right middle portion. You can see the new LRT line in the bottom right of the shot and yes, we need to be looking at not replacing this but revising it and creating or reclaiming new opportunity there.

The low level bridge can be discarded for vehicle traffic, we really don't need that bridge. Demolish the '50s addition and make the original a pedestrian only bridge. An even better idea would be to keep the '50s section and build rowhouses and restaurants on it with a plaza in the middle for people to sit, eat lunch and enjoy the day.

Thanks for the pic. Looking much better now that there's adjoining height. This part of town has such great potential with the right built form and design. Will be an interesting next five years.

Thanks for the info Coldrsx - I hope your ideas comes to fruition one day!

Road patterns are interesting from the air, here’s one I took a few years back landing in Edmonton - curves are quite elegant against the snow.

Edmonton's skyline looks so good now. I hope Trinity Centre in Ottawa is as transformational.

Giallo This is so awesome. Loved it and amazing work!!!

I took another skylines shot of Victoria the other day before the snow. Not the best photo but something a little different.

Fantastic sunset pic. Victoria is a beauty.

Thanks, man. I've been bored in quarantine, so this tech demo has been one of my escapes. I edited a video with a bunch of clips together. The city they've created is pretty incredible.

ByWard Market from the Andaz (Dalhousie at York), looking north towards Hull and the Gatineau Hills.
