Interesting that the HMCS Sackville is gone in that photo. I wonder if one of the Maritime Museum expansion projects is finally going ahead?

Another one. I'm curious to see how this looks when Press Block is complete (to those not familiar, it's in the lower left; you can see the "L" of the developer Dexel and an X on the hoarding).

Ottawa's temporary tallest (45f 143m Claridge Icon) is starting to look a little less lonely with a buddy going up next to it (Soho Italia 30f 96m). Pending approval there will be a 60f 195m tower going up where the bank is in the corner between these two towers.

^ wow! That's a great pic!
I can see Ottawa in the very beginning stages of having a little bit of that multi- nodal thing going on..A few decades from now, Little Italy/Dow's lake area towards Lebreton should stand out more as being just that. It is already, but it just hasn't been fully realized yet.

A not so flattering skyline in Ottawa; Rideau Street from King Edward Avenue, arriving from Gatineau.

I suspect that area is hard to photograph. It has always been hard to capture the "feel" around there, including in some of the most interesting parts of the city. It's not laid out in a monumental way that lends itself to photos. The Bishop St. area is like this too, and getting harder to capture as the holes are filled in again.

Queen's Marque deliberately tried to recreate the kind of space that used to exist around there, with some traditional materials, but modern architecture. In many cases you would walk through an archway to get to the waterfront side.

From my very first visits to skyscraper forums people complained that certain cities were too "boxy". Canadian cities (but particularly Toronto) were major targets. While the main remedy traditionally offered was fewer flat roofs (more crowns, and spires) this seems to be an iteration of the same basic complaint.
