They would most likely want it near a major road. I can't see them putting up with the road conditions or access in the NW of Frederiction. My guess would be along route 10. Maybe close to Minto to help with employment.

They normally do not like to put correctional facilities near major roads, because you don't want a lot of traffic going near them. It increases the chances of contraband and escapes, and just adds a random factor.

That said, using Dorchester as a comparison, it's about 30 minutes from Moncton, and Minto is about 30 minutes from Freddy, so that could be something, especially if they set it well off of Route 10.

Hopefully no one gets the "bright" idea to "repurpose" the former Ripples Internment Camp

The Alison Blvd area may have been growing at a snails pace, but there's been a lot just this year. The entire area from Doak Road to the Wilsey road overpass has been clearcut/prepped for construction (on the highway side). Not sure if there are plans, or just preemptive clearing.

Also two new buildings are currently under construction on the intersection of Doak and Allison, both on the South side of the road. Hanna Construction are building a new HQ for themselves and there's a glass company (forget their name) on the other intersection building a new structure.

These things, along with the new Mosque will certainly make the area appear less deserted, and perhaps lead to interest in the area.

FYI...The Province's municipal reform bill passed today with the 3rd and final reading. Municipal reform will then become law tomorrow with royal ascent by the Lt. Govenor

Of note for Fredericton the area of Island View (Kingsclear LSD) that they were due to be absorbed will now be absorbed by Hanwell.

Yup. A five storey, 56 unit building from Bella Properties.

I love the street presence this project has.

I think this is about to top out, the ceiling of the final floor is probably being built now.

Microunit Apartments on Waterloo Row
Probably about 50% finished I'd say. Just need to finish the outside and then all the interior work.

Bella Apartments project on Beaverbrook road. This is apparently the same company that is going to be doing the above mentioned Forest Hills project and also the Risteen Property at the end of Queen street.

Provincial Courthouse project. Just site prep so far, but this should be jumping come the spring.

Also, there's a rezoning application for 49 Forest Hill Road to change it to MR-4 and allow two main buildings on a lot. That's basically across from the micro unit building currently under construction.

Regarding the Dundonald Street property, the proponent is proposing a 50 unit, five-storey apartment building that would be wedged between the existing building and Dundonald. It would also include 23 underground parking spaces. Also seeking a retail floor area variance for the same property, presumably for the Hospice Boutique.

The Forest Hill Road proposal is for two five-storey apartment buildings, both with underground parking. Building one would be located to the rear of the property and would have 114 units. Building two would be closer to the road and have 64 units. The property is on quite a steep hill and will require a lot of regrading.

Interestingly, both of the above proposals contain primarily one bedroom units.

Also on the agenda is a four unit building at 263 York Street, a tiny lot that has been vacant since the existing building burned down years ago.

Agreed that this building has great presence. The brick work is very nice, as are the large windows. Much nicer than the Tony George buildings down the street. This is the same developer as the new office building on Regent. I wonder what his next project will be.

Maybe I missed this, but this month's PAC is out and has 2 new apartment developments - one on Forest Hill Road with 178 Units in 2 buildings and another with what I guess is around 50 units in one 6-floor tower at Beaverbrook and Dundonald.
