Although it's polished, I don't think it's the real proposal (unfortunately).

This is BIG's proposal's rendering from Tribeca, which obscures 3 WTC as it should from that angle...

In the new rendering 2WTC is totally in the wrong spot. That would be a major screw up that no respectable commissioned rendering would do right?

Me too! This looks great. Foster's original diamond topped tower was my favorite but this looks good too. Anything compared to BIG's "Big Mess".

I REALLY hope the diamond design gets chosen! This new design feels like they stuck a bunch of Central Park Towers into one massing with terraces added throughout its design For being the second-tallest building at WTC, it lacks any real originality or unique attributes that would be worthy of calling it 2WTC, imo It's better than BIG's design, but that's not saying much.

Yawn! Not liking this one too much. Too boring and simplistic IMO.

Neither of the original towers had much originality or unique attributes either. But just like the current towers, that had absolutely nothing to do with being "worthy" (whatever that means) of calling it 2WTC.

I'd be very happy with this. That being said, I don't see anyone giving Larry $3-4B to build a spec tower, and I don't see anyone signing on for 750k pre-lease downtown any time soon.

I'm liking this iteration better than the last one. Goes along with the idea of outdoor space to attract tenants better than the previous iteration. Lets see if this is the final one or if they are developing more.

Basically a scaled up NEMA Chicago, a decent design if somewhat derivative.

I suspect that the materials on a $3.5b building will be vastly superior to those of a rental tower with $2k/month apartments.

Keep the attention on 1WTC from far and the waterfalls from ground level.

And there remains zero evidence that either of these designs has anything to do with Foster. The second design is from what appears to be the personal web site of a brilliant visual designer who until a few years ago was a design student. Nowhere in the presentation is Foster mentioned, so far as I can tell.

It looks to me a like a mockup of someone who is saying, with justification, look how great I am! And IMO, the design presented for 2 world trade is, well, pretty good! It’s surely better than that first “leaked” design that appeared in Yimby, which even admitted that they had no evidence the design came from Foster.

In any case, I find it really hard to believe that Foster would simply hand over the architectural rendering of 2 World Trade to an extremely talented, but nonetheless obscure, visual designer without first making a public unveiling of it. And given that no other media has picked up on any of this, I’m pretty sure these can be safely dismissed as actual Foster deisgns.

Exactly. The rampant speculation going on in this thread has been kind of silly. Understandable, though. We're all starving to know about what's gonna happen with this site.

I like the model in general, though I think the crown/sail thing could use a little more refinement.

It's not just this site, everyone does this for most proposals. As soon as any rendering is released that mightTM* be the real thing people instantly go into speculation and conversation about it. You don't even have to provide any proof, I could make a render right now and as long as it doesn't look like a 3 year old made it people would be talking about it for weeks until something new pops up.

So what. It gives people something to talk about until we get a confirmed proposal/design. Atleast no one is here fighting about nonsense.

I never said it was a bad thing. It's just a thing that happens.

This is incorrect. Foster is referenced twice in that designer's presentation. On the slide with the header "Editorial Design - Page Types" there's a picture of him next to a quote at the bottom of the group of slides labeled "inhale". Also, his name appears below "2 WTC" on the image of the gold massing model against a black background that JMKeynes posted (bottom right corner of "Editorial Designs - Page Types").

Good observations, those details are easy to miss.

Still, the rendering of the Perelman PAC on https://www.chloeyae.design/work/2wtc shows the whole PAC clad in marble installation, instead of the PAC black granite base and absence of the black statue on the eastern part of the southern plaza in front of the PAC, as is the case in the new renderings of the finished PAC.

This suggests that this particular design and render of 2 WTC was made prior to design changes to the PAC that were announced in mid 2021: https://newyorkyimby.com/2021/07/new-ren...ter-in-financial-district-manhattan.html
