Intended, my sisters house is right beside a forest so it's even darker at her place. It feels like perpetual sunset in December. Can't wait to be there though.

Hey nice Vic skyline shot GS! I’ve come across some great Victoria skyline shots on Instagram, but no longer have a clue on how to post them here on SSP. I used to be able to use Firefox and right click, then view the page source and easily find the media (jpg) but they removed that a while back from their browser. Are there any copyright issues with embedding Instagram pics here, and if not, how are others doing it?

Nice Montreal shot, has me going down a rabbit hole of exploring the other CN buildings across Canada (seeing it above at the bottom of the skyline, lol), which seems to a commonality like the Hudson Bay buildings and the CP hotels. Edmonton’s is quite iconic in it’s own way, I hear Toronto has a CN building - who else?

Toronto, Edmonton and Montreal have the most prominent CN-associated buildings... after that the list drops off pretty fast. London used to have a CN Building of its own but it was demolished some years back. So did Saskatoon... actually, I'm pretty sure the building itself is still there but I'm not sure if CN has anything to do with it anymore.

After some searching, I found an okay image of London's CN building....definitely a decent structure. I don't think knocking it down made much sense, but at the time I guess there wasnt any better options.

I can't find much on any CN buildings after the above mentioned elsewhere in Canada.

I believe Moncton has/had one (if it still exists the CN branding isn't prominent anymore).

Thanks Zoomer. I've been waiting to see the Instagram photos you had and were going to post. I've never been on Instagram before so I have no idea how it works. I know when I see photos on Facebook I always just right click on them and write the posters name. Though I don't post many of them I have lots saved.

Here's another Victoria skyline photo I took back on April 21st of this year...

The one in London wasn't that old... it looked like a perfectly serviceable office building. It still seems weird that it was demolished.

The Terminal Plaza office complex consisted of two office buildings, seven and eight storeys tall on the site of the original CNR station in downtown Moncton. It lost its CN signage about 25 years ago when CNR radically downsized their presence in Moncton. Crombie REIT now own the complex. The eight storey building has been completely rejuvenated and is now class A office space and contains several financial institutions including a large back office for Tangerine Bank. The seven story building is currently vacant, a little forlorn looking and is awaiting repurposing.

^ From what we can see of the seven storey building on the left, it looks like a beauty.

CN had a pretty short lived period as an active real estate developer - seems to me that it was mainly in the 60s and early 70s - but they stuff they did build was really nice. The CN Tower in Edmonton will always be one of my favourites, not just for how it looks but the total package. The design, where it's situated, the interesting air terminal-like railway station in the basement. It has lost a bit of its lustre given that it hasn't actually functioned as a railway station for over 20 years, but it still looks great.

At one point in the early 70s CN had a fairly ambitious commercial redevelopment plan going for what is now The Forks in Winnipeg (site of an old CN railyard), but for reasons unknown to me they dropped it sometime that decade and it evolved into the park-like area that we know today.

It's still here, known now as the Tower at Midtown. Would be great if the CN logo was still at the top.

When did they add that pseudo-vintage railway station in front of the tower? It looks OK on its own but it clashes with the tower behind it. It's like Saskatoon's version of Pan Am and Grand Central Terminal

Lol!

It was added in the early 90s, and mimics the CN station that stood there until the station and rail yard were moved and replaced by Midtown Plaza and the Centennial Auditorium.

The original entrance to the mall was modern and matched the CN Tower's aesthetic. While the current one is kitschy I think it suits the charm of 21st Street well enough (the Bessborough anchors the opposite end of the street).
